We are back with another round of Stock Car Racing at Lochgelly Raceway, with a non-contact round of action, it could be interesting as the drivers race door to door and bumper to bumper, without the ability to simply push the driver in front out of the way!!!
The National Hot Rods return to Lochgelly Raceway for the first time since July, and it is good to see the numbers begin to slowly pick up again since the COVID pandemic. Ross McWilliam has been the one to beat of late in the Scottish scene, and has also performed will whilst racing elsewhere and is certainly one of the most improved drivers over the last 12-18 months. Matt MacPherson is expected to be with us for the first time in the National Hot Rod, whilst Marc Spence will also be looking to continue his good form from last weekend as he looks to challenge for a place in the World Championship next July!
The 2.0 Hot Rods are with us, and with just 1 more meeting to go for the formula at Lochgelly Raceway after this weekend, a couple of drivers have taken the opportunity to pay us a visit, and there isn’t no shortage of talent!! World Champion James Morris makes another visit to Lochgelly Raceway, a track he has become familiar with in the last year or so, whilst British Champion Conor Hughes will also be with us on track, returning for the first time since he won the British Championship back in July. Scottish Champion Jason Secker will be showing off the saltire for the first time since winning it, and will be looking to carry on the impressive form that he has shown since joining the formula only at the start of the year!! National Points Champion Cameron Willacy will be looking to close in on the track championship, and maintain ground to Jason Secker, who is only 10 points behind! Jock Campbell has been one of the most consistent performers in wet conditions, and will no doubt be doing a rain dance in the run up to this weekend!!! Former F2 star Keith Brown will join us on track, whilst Keith Chesher will also have another outing in the 2.0 Hot Rod class. There is expected to be a 2.0 Hot Rod debut for former 2.0 Saloon driver, Frankie Cunningham as well!
The Junior Productions are back with us following on from the superb racing from last weekend – Jase Walle and Koddi Wright are engaged in an epic battle for the National Points Championship, with only 1 point separating the 2 drivers!! That could be a battle to keep an eye on this Saturday night. Kaitlyn Smart will be brimming of confidence following her excellent performance last weekend, where she managed to put in her best performance in the class since stepping up. Lewis Dickson will be hoping for a dry meeting, having shown some great speed last Sunday afternoon, picking up a good haul of points as well. Lewis will be looking to carry that on this weekend as he looks to challenge those around him for the points places. Connie and Leona Anderson both had a bit of a tough meeting last week, with both drivers being caught up in a couple of incidents over the weekend, resulting in some damage to that immaculately prepared cars, but both are hoping to be on track again this weekend as they look to get back to finishing some races! Liam Loggie and Willam Plenderleith both put in impressive performances from the novice grade last weekend, and the 2 new-comers will both be happy with those performances, and will be hoping to carry that on this Saturday.
The UKMC Ninja Karts are back with us, as they battle it out for the JusBounce shield – a shield that doesn’t necessarily go to the race winner, but the driver that scores the most points based on a simple multiplier system. Around 20 karts will be on track for the 3 main races, which will provide some breathtaking action as the youngsters continue to impress. Hamish Plenderleith, Eevie Ford and Kenzie Bell have been the consistent performers in 2021, and the trip currently top the points charts; Eevie and Hamish will both be looking to secure the title in their final years in the formula!! Elsewhere, Stuart Shevill and Jack Connor have both been involved in superb points finishes over the last few months, with both drivers moving their way up the ranks as result. Caelan Grant likewise, has been a steady performer, and will be difficult to catch from the front of the blue grade. Finley Kew will join us from England, whilst World Champion Leyton Hughes will join us from Northern Ireland. The multiplier system for the JusBounce shield will work for the top 10 places in each race, with White graded drivers points (x2), yellow graded drivers (x1.5), blue graded drivers (x1.25) and red and champions (x1).
The CC Rods have again, had a solid year, and with just under 20 drivers booked into race, it appears that formula continues to go from strength to strength, continually providing some mouth water on track racing. An evenly matched field of cars has provided some of the best racing that we have seen in the formula of late, with no single driver standing out above anyone else. A competitive pack of cars will always provide good racing, and that is what the CC Rods continually do here at Lochgelly Raceway.
Ensure you join us on Saturday evening for a fantastic 16 race event! First Race, 5pm!!
