As the resumption of events continue, Hardie Race Promotions are delighted to welcome back the Back 2 Basics Bangers onto the roster of formula.
The Back 2 Basics Bangers have been a roaring success in England in recent years, with regular large grids of cars. A number of drivers requested that we give the formula another go here at Lochgelly Raceway, and it’s good to see interest in the class. Approximately 15 cars are booked in for the opening event, with bookings still coming in, which is roughly where we expected it to be. The formula is designed for a no thrills experience to racing with very little car prep required – remove windows, remove seats and fuel tanl, add a cage, fuel tank, and door plate, and seat belt doors and bonnet closed – and your pretty much good to go! It will be interesting to see how the formula progresses through the other events planned for the 2020 season, but hopefully this Saturdays event will give a few others the encouragement to get involved! The evening will be rounded off with a Demolition Derby for the Back 2 Basics Bangers!
The UK Massage Chairs sponsored Ninja Karts have just shy of 20 karts in action, and with several now having grown out of the formula over the last few months, it’s still a good amount of karts to restart the campaign for the youngsters. The field will be led by Scottish Champion Toby Tyson, as he looks to secure another Points Championship in what will be his final full season in the formula. Kenzie Bell and Dougie Kidd both showed good pace in practice, and will both be hoping to take a few points away with them as well. A good amount of novice drivers on track will see Kal Wotherspoon, Katie-Lee Smart, Saul Galloway and Robin Boyle gain some more invaluable track time.
The CC Rods have a few of our regular drivers missing from the agenda including Ian Donaldson and Lee Wotherspoon, which will open up the doors for other drivers to take full advantage of. Ian Taylor will be hoping to take the plaudits, but with a talented field of cars on track, it could be anyone’s night! Paul Bell will be making his competitive debut in the formula, bringing out his Mini (BMW Style), a first for the formula, and I think, a first for any formula at Lochgelly Raceway. Ian Christie swaps his ProStock for the CC Rod again, whilst Kevin Hutchison makes an outing in Emma Kirks car with Emma missing out. Kris Douglas and Kenny Pitcaithly will both make there CC Rod debuts for the 2020 campaign!
The Superstox have often provided excellent racing at Lochgelly Raceway, and with the bumpers going in thick and fast earlier in the campaign, a few drivers will have some memories of those exchanges, which may, just lead to an eventful night of action on Saturday! Bryan Forrest and Barry Stephen will lead the charge from the back of the grid, though with a competitive field of cars in action, it won’t be plain sailing! Aaron Riddell and Dean Johnston are two, who on there day, are as quick as anyone out there, though both often like to get stuck in with the bumper, which isn’t always the fastest way around the track!!
We hope that you have an enjoyable evening with us, and abide by the regulations in place.
A reminder,
- there is no access to the pit area for spectators
- spectators must remain in their vehicles for the duration of the meeting
