Saturday 18th May at Lochgelly Raceway.
We are back at Lochgelly Raceway for another evening of fantastic stock car action.
The ORCi Ministox are with us as they race for the HRP Marshals Shield – won in 2023 by Charlie Hardie. The Ministox have been providing some excellent racing this year, with plenty of drivers more than capable of challenging for race wins. Rhys Kelly has been a regular attendee with us at Lochgelly this year, and more often than not, he finds himself battling it out for the podium places. Last time out, Dougie Kidd was almost unstoppable as he made the most of his white grade starting position, opening up good leads and lapping a number of more experienced drivers in the process – although, was hampered by a couple of yellow flags and retirements which prevented further success. Cole Ford was a late started in the 2024 season, but has steadily improved with each passing meeting, finding more and more pace, and he himself, will be looking to challenge for the win. Hamish Plenderleith has certainly hit the ground running, taking several race wins already, including the Keir Millar Memorial race last weekend – congratulations to Hamish on that success. Hamish will be looking to continue in such form this weekend, as he aims to claim the HRP Marshals Shield as well. Charlie Hardie, in his final months in the Ministox formula, will be hoping to retain the title and will be all out going for glory as he aims to end his Ministox career on a high. Although we can’t predict a race winner, we are certain that it will be an entertaining and thrilling night of racing from the ORCi Ministox.
The CC Rods are back with us once more, and will be looking to display some great non-contact racing throughout the evening. The formula has provided some great races already this season, with several close finishes, nail biting action, and excellent door to door action as the drivers show each other some great respect on track. Brian Allen is set to make his first outing of the season having missed out in the early part of the season, whilst former Junior Production star, Baillie Glencross, is set to make her first outing in the formula as she looks to build her confidence in the senior classes. Alun Gregory, Gregor Whyte and Ian Christie have arguably been the most consistent front runners so far this season, but with the emergence of a number of up and coming drivers, the formula has the potential to see anyone claim a victory on any given night.
The Superstox formula has seen some excellent racing this year, despite, car numbers not being ‘excellent’. The open wheel class has seen the likes of Dean Johnston, Ciaran Adams and Kenny McKenzie regularly exchange blows as they battle for success on track, with the opportunity to break clear of the chasing pack behind being the reward. Further forward, we have seen Paul Mackie, Mirran Adams and Benjamin Erskine all raise their game this year as they prove to be difficult to both catch and overcome for the star graded drivers. Adam Low and Jordan Black have both recently returned to action after missing out early in the year, with Low in a new built car, and Black having acquired the ex Lee Livingston car. The formula is only 2 weeks away from the A1 Containers R Us British Championship, being held here at Lochgelly over the 1st and 2nd June weekend.
The Rookie Bangers are with us for the 2nd time this season, and we will once more see the formula look to provide some great on track action, with 3 races on the night, plus an entertainers award for a driver that is adjudged to have put in an effort to entertain throughout the evening. Dayle Linton, Kieran Tweed and Ryan Martin are just a few of the drivers expected to be with us, with many having an eye on World Final qualification come November.
The Junior Production class are with us with another good turnout of drivers expected. The formula is fast become one of the most competitive here at Lochgelly Raceway, with lots of drivers challenging for race wins, amongst lots of drivers with rising confidence too! Lewis Dickson, William Plenderleith, Connie Anderson, Liam Loggie and Jack Baird have regularly been front runners in 2024. However, with the emergence of the likes of Jayden Barrie, Liam Conway, Dale Sutherland, Callum Ritchie and Kenzie Kopacz in the lower grades, it is proving challenging for the star graded drivers to overcome some of these very fast drivers. Racecraft and patience is required as the drivers look to capitalise on any mistake by drivers in front of them, or make the most of any opening that becomes available. The mid-field pack of cars also have a lot of potential, and the ability to challenge for the front spaces.
The first race gets undeway at 5.45pm
The drivers sign in office will open at 2.00pm, whilst practice will get underway at 3.30pm. The sign in office will close 30minutes before the first race.50 50 TICKETS ARE AVAILABLE FROM THE MAIN RECEPTION FOR JUST £1 PER STRIP, WITH HALF THE TAKINGS GOING TO THE WINNER.Drivers are reminded that they are responsible for leaving a tidy pit area, utilizing the bins provided, or taking rubbish away with them.
