9th April Stock Car Preview
We’re back for another round of action at Lochgelly Raceway following an exceptional weekend of racing last weekend.
A host of non contact formula will be in action with the 2.0 Hot Rods, CC Rods, Junior Productions and Ninja Karts all featuring, alongside the contact Superstox.
The 2.0 Hot Rods will welcome Chevy Mills north of the border in what will be his first appearance in Scotland in the 2.0 Hot Rod, whilst Josh Duff is expected to make his debut having worked tirelessly throughout the week in a bid to get the car ready to go. World Champion James Morris will be yet again be with us as he makes the trip north to attend his home track. Gerry Hendry and Kevin Stewart were the drivers that came out on top last time out in the 2.0 Hot Rods, though, with a hugely impressive field of cars in action, the race wins could go to any driver on track. The 2.0 Hot Rods will provide a lot of close racing, with no inch given between the drivers with no pushing permitted!
The Ninja Karts will see another great turnout of drivers, with over 30 karts expected to be in attendance this weekend, including a host of visiting drivers from south of the border. Jack Jones, Jason Fish, Arthur Ware, Murray Hall, Joby Hall, Charlie Weston, Jayden Roff and William Hunn all join us at Lochgelly Raceway again, whilst Henry Hunn is set to make his first appearance north of the border. Sophia Allan and Jackon Burrell are set to make their debut’s in the class, whilst the likes of Nate Wotherspoon and Jayden Lee Jeffrey will be seeking their maiden wins. Eevie Ford has started 2022 in sensational form, and will be the one to beat this weekend, however, Jack Connor has shown to be a match, and will be looking to challenge Eevie throughout the evening. Dougie Kidd and Kenzie Bell will be looking for some better luck as both look to get up to speed ahead of the British Championship in less than one month’s time.
The Junior Productions have provided some super racing already this year, and the non-contact junior class will be looking to put on a show again this weekend. Just under 20 cars are expected to be on track, with a wide range of abilities being shown throughout the field of cars. The range in ability always provides some hair-raising moments, but also show’s off the talent of the drivers on track. There will be a debut for Hollie Ritchie, whilst several others are not far away from also joining in on the action on track!!
The CC Rods had a bit of an eventful meeting last time out, and we’ll be looking for the formula to return to what it is best at – providing great non-contact racing, with maximum respect between the drivers. On their day, the CC Rods will provide some brilliant racing as the drivers try and maneuver their way through the field of cars, moving outside, and trying to find a gap on the inside as well, as they looked to progress as quickly as possible to the front end of the pack. Dale Burt and Scott Evans are set to make their 2022 debut’s in the formula, whilst Raymond Brown looks to continue his excellent start to the season.
The Superstox are the only contact formula in action this weekend, and have been known to provide some great racing. Ryan Cameron and Patrick Calderwood make a return to racing having missed out last time, whilst Johnny Thomson and John Ranking are set to make their debut’s. Dean Johnston, Aaron Riddell and Adam Low have been the front runners for much of 2022 so far, though the likes of Mark Brady and Kenny McKenzie will never be far away. There could be late bookings for David Frame and Lee Livingston, with both having heavy work commitments and unable to commit until nearer the day of racing.
The action gets underway at 5.30pm, with spectator gates opening at 3.30pm.
