Banger Weekender
Meeting Date: Saturday 3rd August

This weekend we have two action packed days of racing.
Saturday 3rd August, 5pm start time, we see the Unlimited Bangers race for their Scottish Championshp. The event also features Junior Bangers - one of the most entertaining formula south of the border - Ninja Karts, ORCi Ministox and ProStocks. A fantastic mix of formula to keep everyone on the edge of their seats throughout the event.
Sunday 4th August, 12pm start time, the Rookie Bangers take centre stage as they race for their Scottish Championship, and with almost FIFTY cars booked to race, it promises to be action packed! The U Pull It 1300 Stock Cars race for their Craig McNicol Memorial, alongside the Junior Bangers and Junior Productions.
It’s a 2 day banger racing special event this weekend at Lochgelly Raceway as we have numerous banger racing formula in action over the two days. The Unlimited Bangers race for their Scottish Championship on Saturday night, whilst the Rookie Bangers race for their Scottish Championship on the Sunday afternoon. Junior Bangers feature both days as they looked to outshine their adult counterparts.
Drivers from throughout the UK and Ireland are set to be with us across the formula, with long distance travellers in all banger classes, as well as the Ninja Karts.
The Unlimited Bangers will likely see a new champion crowned, with the reigning champion Jack Denikiewicz not currently booked to race, although, there is still time for drivers to book in. It is a title that has seen many top end drivers win over the years – Jack Deacon, Lee Kingsnorth and Neil Naismith to name a few. Will we see a Scottish driver take the glory once more? Or will the title go over the border? An entertainer award will be available on the night, awarded to a driver that is chosen to have put on a show throughout the evening, whilst a DD is hoped to round off the Saturday night entertainment.
The Rookie Bangers currently have 50+ drivers booked to race, and that is certain to cause outright carnage! The 1600 class has been one of the most popular banger classes in recent years with driver uptake being astronomical at some of the big events. Korben Quinn has won the title the last two years and he’ll be hoping to make it three in a row on Sunday. The Essex boys make the trip north to be with us, with the team having produced some entertaining racing last year, we can anticipate much the same this weekend. A few Northern Irish drivers hope to be with us as well, including Josh Goligher. Add in a mix of hungry for success Scottish drivers, and we have an exciting Sunday afternoon to look forward too! Like the Unlimited Bangers, an entertainer award is available on the day, whilst the event will close with a demolition derby on Sunday afternoon.
The Junior Bangers have seen some brilliant racing south of the border this year, with on many occasions, the formula outshining their senior counterparts. However, the formula isn’t full contact and is more about racing and spinning the opposition out rather than full on destruction. With 20 plus off the youngsters set to be with us, including an influx of Scottish drivers, it promises to be an action packed weekend of racing from the Junior Banger class.
The U-Pull-It 1300 Stock Cars race for their Craig McNicol Memorial on Sunday afternoon, with the hard hitting hatchback formula only weeks away from their World Championship, it is a warmup to the big event – however, there are some excellent prizes up for grabs this weekend with a number of people supporting the event. We are sure to expect the metal crunching formula to put in a superb display of racing.
Add in the ProStocks, ORCi Ministox, Ninja Karts and Junior Productions over the two days, and we are certain that there will be lots of great racing, hard hitting action and all round excitement over the weekend.
