Saturday night at Lochgelly Raceway will see the 2.0 Hot Rods, UKMC Ninja Karts, 1300 Stock Cars, CC Rods and UKMC Junior Productions feature in what will be a hectic night of racing. An impressive 17 races are scheduled, with just under 40 Ninja Karts set to be in attendance, with a host of English visitors joining us.
The evening will start with the UKMC Ninja Karts kicking things off – slightly earlier than billed, with the Whites and Yellows race moving to pre-meeting, and will be lights out at 1715, with the rest of the evening commencing at 1730 as advertised.
Last time out for the UKMC Ninja Karts, there was some impressive racing, with Eevie Ford standing out as a star performer. She’ll have to battle her way through 20+ karts in each of her races on Saturday though, if she want to repeat such a performance. Katie Lee Smart and Lucas Whyte put in impressive showings from white grade, and won’t be too far off a race win this weekend. William Hunn, Murray Hall and Joby Hall are all back with us for the second time this season, and they too will be joined by Tyler Ward, Saxon Thompson, Clark Ferris, Jayden Roff, Arthur Ware, Jack Jones, Jenson Fish, Steen Rozier, Charlie Weston, Olly Miller, and Romeo Gould as visiting drivers this weekend – perhaps all with an eye on the Ninja Kart British Championship, set to be contested here at Lochgelly Raceway in early May. The youngsters will certainly keep you on the edge of your seat, and if you are new with us, you’ll be amazed at the talents shown by this group of 6-10 year olds.
The CC Rods make their second appearance of the season, with National Points Champion Kevin Hutchison set to lead the line. There looks set to be season debut’s for Benjamine Erskine, Dale Burt, Natalie Mason and David Glencross. Local driver Raymond Brown was in superb form last time out, though will be starting a little further back this weekend having been moved up a grade following his 2 race wins a couple of weeks ago. Scottish Champion Ian Christie will be out with us, as he looks to improve on the first meeting of the season where he struggled throughout the night to make any headway in what was a competitive field of cars. Andy Nelson, a race winner at our season opener, will be hoping the car will go just as well this weekend, as he looks to continue that form this weekend. The non-contact class will always provide close and competitive racing, with nothing between a bunch of the cars keeping you on the edge of your seat with all eyes on the battles on track!
The 2.0 Hot Rods had an excellent season opener on the 5th March, and will be looking to put on another impressive showing this weekend. Although, at time of writing, cars numbers are a little less than they were for the opening meeting, a highly competitive field of cars led by World Champion James Morris, will provide some nail biting action. National Points Champion Cameron Willacy will be hoping for a bit more luck on this occasion, having been caught up in an incident or two on the season opener. Ethan Doull, the Ministox graduate, is set to make his debut in the class and will be a welcome addition at Lochgelly Raceway.
The UKMC Junior Productions will provide another round of competitive non-contact racing following an impressive season debut a couple of weeks ago. Koddi Wright looked in impressive form on that occasion, and will be hoping to continue that trend this weekend. Jack MacLeod looks to be getting to grips with his Corsa with each and every passing race and will be looking to compete for race wins this Saturday night. Lewis Duffy will make his debut in the formula, having missed out last time out due to illness, and will be satisfied at getting some laps under his belt and getting a feel for the car. Scottish and National Points Champion, Jase Walle, is another driver who is out in a new chassis this year and is having to adapt to the different feel of the car on track. A wealth of experience by the Walle team though, will ensure that he is upto speed quickly, and soon battling for race wins – possibly even this weekend! Up front, there has been some impressive performances from the lower graded drivers – notably Callahan Bremner, Kaitlyn Smart and William Plenderleith, all of whom put in strong showings last time out. Can any of this trio steal the plaudits this weekend and gather a race win? Ensure you join us to find out how they all get on!
The final formula in attendance this weekend are the full contact 1300 Stock Cars. The 1300 Stock Cars have been in sensational form over the last 12 months or so, with some mesmerizing racing on offer on track. Kyle Hegg was the dominant force in 2021, though, so far, hasn’t had it all his own way, with Danny Whyte, Fraser Clark and Stuart Farrell all putting in some impressive performances in the first few meetings of the year. Jacob Roff will be with us again as he makes the trip north for the second time in 2022. Roff was in excellent form at our season opener event, and could easily have walked away with a hat-trick of race wins. The bumpers will be used, and there will be plenty of on track action as around 20 1300 Stock Cars put on a show!
