As the season winds down, the racing calendar intensifies and this Friday night looks set to show just what stock car racing is all about, with some superb races lined up thanks to a brilliant booking list across each of the formula in action!
There will be balance between full contact stock car racing, and some non-contact racing as well, ensuring that there truly is, something for everyone!!
The 1300 Stock Cars lead the way with the annual Mr Gunn Trophy being up for grabs – an event that always whets the appetite of the 1300 Stock Car teams. Just under 30 cars are currently booked into race in this event, and with a closed grid, graded order final set to round off proceedings for the formula on Friday night, it could be a lively affair. The track championship is still on the line as well, with Fraser Clark and Kyle Hegg looking set to battle that out through the remaining meetings – This Friday night, the Michelle Freck Memorial event on 13th November, and the Hogmanay Special event on the 31st December! Zak Gilmour makes a return to 1300 Stock Cars, having moved on from the formula over the last 18 months – the reigning European Champion will look to hit the ground running as he looks to defend that title next weekend at Ipswich! The Mathieson brothers are both expected to be in action, and both are no strangers to on track action – although, both have shown some good race speed throughout the 2021 campaign as well, with Euan just dropping out of contention for the track championship. 2.0 Saloon driver William Mitchell will be making an outing in what we believe is the Regan Watson car – it’ll be interesting to see how he fairs in the 1300! We would like to thank the Gunn family for allowing us to host such a prestigious event at Lochgelly Raceway, and would like to extend our thanks to the following people that have contributed towards an enhanced prize fund for the meeting - The Gunn Family, Mirror Mirror Salon, Fife Seat, Ian and Carol Goodall and Ringtone Race Painter.
The Gunn family would like to extend their thanks to HRP for continually hosting the event, and to the drivers for supporting the event enormously throughout the years! They really do appreciate the effort by all!
The CC Rods will be contesting the Bill & Ciaran Hawkes Memorial – last staged in 2019, and won by Pete Honeyman. With a crop of new drivers contesting in the formula, a new name will be going onto the shield! The CC Rods have provided some scintillating non-contact racing throughout the season, and with the track championship all but secured by Kevin Hutchison, it could be an interesting evening. Shane Allen has been in good form since making a return to action a couple of months ago, and has steadily moved up the order, whilst Dylan O’Donnell has been in great form since coming into the class midway through the season. Raymond Brown has shown good speed at most of his outings in 2021, and will be looking to battle bravely in the fight for the title this Friday night.
The Ministox are the final formula in action, and the youngsters never, never fail to entertain at Lochgelly Raceway. With fields of cars consistently above 20, the youngsters and their teams have shown incredible commitment to continuously turn up, and entertain. Friday night will see just under 30 cars take to the track as the kick start the weekend in style. A host of visiting drivers from the West Country bolster the grid, and they’ll be looking to takeaway their own share of the spoils. The Lochgelly track championship is still up for grabs – though, it would take a combination of good luck and bad luck, for Charlie Hardie to be caught. Jay Paterson will be back with us and will be showing off the silver roof having secured the GMP National Points. The youngsters are never afraid to put on a show, and with only a handful of points separating a few of the drivers in the points charts, it could become lively! Scottish and ORCi Champion, Scott Allardyce has had another incredible campaign as he took the fight to the others, and has took away a number of championships for his efforts! With just under 30 cars – you can expect action around the raceway!!!
One thing that is guaranteed on Friday night, is entertainment, and for only £12, it’s a bargain not to be sniffed at as the weekend kicks off with a bang!!
