Saturday 24th August will see the National Hot Rods take to the track as they continue on the road to World Qualification. It’s the 2nd round of their current series.
The National Hot Rods are the pinnacle of non-contact oval racing with exquisite machinery on display at every event. Gordon Alexander has recently acquired a brand new Mazda National Hot Rod and we await with anticipation as to whether that car will make its debut this weekend. Ross McWilliam was in top form last time out – setting some impressive lap times and starting off his campaign in the best possible manner, only bettered by debutant Derek Connor. Darren Scott is set to be with us having missed out last time due to business commitments. Darren was a rising talent in last years campaign and he will be looking to produce some good form on Saturday as he aims to get points on the board. James Robertson and Ethan Doull will both be hoping to qualify directly for the World Championship this campaign, and the two newcomers to the formula at the start of the year have both found their feet and are certainly ones to be reckoned with. James Mooney is set to be with us as a visiting driver with James regularly competing in Northern Ireland.
The Superstox have been capable of producing some excellent racing with a good crop of drivers on track – there is a wide range of upcoming drivers that are continually improving, whilst the likes of Dean Johnston, Aaron Riddell and Kenny McKenzie aim to keep on challenging for the podium places. Adam Low is never afraid to get stuck in when required, and the Dundonian will be one to watch having ran into some issues last time out. Their may be an appearance from 5 Eric Walker depending on how his racing goes at home this week. Eric had a spectacular rollover at our June Speedweekend, something he’ll be keen to avoid going forward!
The Junior Productions have seen healthy grids this season, with near 20 cars at most events. The racing has been hectic at times, with a wide range of abilities and experience on track. The experienced drivers have found progressing through the field tough at times with a lot of lower graded drivers stepping up at various times during the season. Dale Sutherland, Liam Conway, Jayden Barrie and Callum Ritchie have all been challengers at times throughout the season, though all have struggled in traffic with not a lot of experience. Lewis Dickson, William Plenderleith and Connie Anderson have all been regular podium contenders, and they’ll all be looking to make progress as quickly as possible on Saturday night.
The 2.0 Hot Rods are with us for the 2nd week in succession. Last weekend, Charlie Hardie made his debut and took away a few race wins as well as the fastest lap of the night. Hardie will be starting from yellow grade this week as a result. HRP Points Champion Keith Brown has been a consistent front runner over the last 2 years, and will always be one to be challenging up front. Keith is set to head over to Holland to race in a couple of weeks time as the formula races for their European Championship. Mark Dews, Allan Gibson and Frankie Cunningham are all quick drivers, and all have race wins under their belt this season as well. Gary Black continues to find his feet in the formula once more having just returned to action following a spell on the sidelines.
The ProStocks were a late addition to the bill, replacing the banger formula. The ProStocks have provided some excellent racing at Lochgelly this year, and we expect some good racing once more from the nudge and spin class. Whilst we don’t expect a full grid due to the late addition, we do expect a good turnout and the formula to once more, produce the goods as it consistently has done this season.
The drivers sign in office will open at 2.30pm, whilst practice will get underway at 3.30pm. The sign in office will close 30minutes before the first race. Thereafter, drivers must sign in from the main reception. The first race gets underway at 5.45pm.
50 50 TICKETS ARE AVAILABLE FROM THE MAIN RECEPTION FOR JUST £1 PER STRIP, WITH HALF THE TAKINGS GOING TO THE WINNER.
Drivers are reminded that they are responsible for leaving a tidy pit area, utilizing the bins provided, or taking rubbish away with them. Any teams found to be leaving their pit area untidy, will be fined and possibly banned from attending race meetings.
The spectator gates will open at 3.15pm, with trackside parking only available on a first come first served basis. High sided vehicles are requested to park on the upper level, and the far end of the middle level, so not to obstruct views of those behind them.
