This Saturday at Lochgelly Raceway, 15th June, we see FIVE formula take to the track in what is expected to be an exciting night of on track action.
The Van Bangers headline the evening – the formula renowned for entertaining, hard hits and fun filled on track action – promise more great action with almost 15 vans currently booked to race. Keiran Tweed makes the trip north to be with us for this National Banger event, whilst the likes of Lee Clarke, William Stawiarski and Paul Barron join the line up. The evening will finish off with a demolition derby for the van bangers, where the last van running will be deemed the winner!
The Superstox, CC Rods, ProStocks and Ministox all also feature in an epic five formula event.
The Superstox are with us for the first time since their A1 Containers R Us British Championship event at the start of June. European Champion Dean Johnston leads the line up as he closes in on the 2023-24 National Points. Kenny McKenzie has kept him honest throughout the campaign, and will be looking to take away another set of consistent results. Adam Low has been in good form since returning to action a couple of months ago in his new car. Low is never afraid to get stuck in, and with good pace on his side as well, he is certainly one to watch. Aaron Riddell is set to be with us following the acquisition of the Michael Green car. Riddell will be looking to get a feel for the car before heading to Ipswich at the beginning of July.
The ProStocks have provided excellent racing at each event this year so far - Just last week, they were arguably the top formula with some fantastic battles throughout the night with three different race winners. Back again with us on Saturday, will we see three winners yet again, or will we see a single driver stand out? Grady Ross, Dougie Kidd, Lewis Gilchrist, Paul Barron and Chris Mack were all ones to watch last weekend. Hollie Richie and Becki Ritchie had a difficult meeting last week with luck not on their side - they sisters have shown they have what it takes to challenge up front, and will be hoping to return to that sort of form this weekend.
The ORCi Ministox are with us for the first of three successive meetings - the youngsters will take this opportunity to get in a bit of practice ahead of their APEX Garden Rooms Scottish Championship next weekend. The Ministox formula consistently provides entertaining racing with the youngsters racing round with no fear at all. Hamish Plenderleith has been in excellent form this season and has already took a few wins along the way. David Philp and Charlie Hardie have been the front runners on a regular basis here at Lochgelly, with the pair having some excellent on track battles. Rachel Kidd and Cole Ford are never far away, whilst northerner Rhys Kelly has also had an excellent start to the year here at Lochgelly Raceway. The bumpers will be used throughout the night as the more experienced drivers aim to get to the front of the grid as quickly as possible without being held up as they strive to catch some very quick lower graded drivers!
The CC Rods are in action following a few weeks without any action - the formula has seen some excellent competitive racing this year already, despite some lower than expected car numbers. A competitive field of drivers has left very little between much of them which has allowed for some excellent door to door battles with drivers forced to use racecraft to make a move rather than pushing the opposition out of the way.
The first race gets undeway at 5.30pm
The drivers sign in office will open at 2.00pm, whilst practice will get underway at 3.00pm. The sign in office will close 30minutes before the first race.50 50 TICKETS ARE AVAILABLE FROM THE MAIN RECEPTION FOR JUST £1 PER STRIP, WITH HALF THE TAKINGS GOING TO THE WINNER.Drivers are reminded that they are responsible for leaving a tidy pit area, utilizing the bins provided, or taking rubbish away with them. Any teams found to be leaving their pit area untidy, will be fined and possibly banned from attending race meetings. The spectator gates will open at 2.30pm, with trackside parking only available on a first come first served basis. High sided vehicles are requested to park on the upper level, and the far end of the middle level, so not to obstruct views of those behind them.
