Meeting Preview

This Saturday it is the latest in the run of Scottish Championship events – this time, it is the 2.0 Hot Rod class that will be battling it out, with Keith Brown looking to defend his title.

The 2.0 Hot Rod formula has seen a lot of fast, competitive and close racing over the course of the season with very little between much of the drivers. Keith Brown will start at the favourite, being the holder and HRP points champion. Frankie Cunningham and Allan Gibson have both shown they have the raw pace to compete at any given event and will both fancy their chances. Charlie Hardie has hit the ground running in the formula and performed admirably over in Northern Ireland a couple of weeks ago. David Frame is an experienced racer as well, and will do his utmost to challenge for the silverware. Former Junior Production driver, Oliva Krzyzanowska is set to make her first appearance in the class.

The Ninja Karts are racing in their annual Autism Awareness event in association with M90 Motorsports. Abigail Chalmers came out on top in 2023, and with Abigail now having retired from the formula, a new driver will come out on top this weekend. Riley Stagg makes the trip north to join us once more, whilst the home contingent of drivers will all be aiming for success. The Ninja Karts have produced some excellent racing of late with competitive and fast on track action, with a number of drivers realizing their own abilities and becoming a force to be reckoned with. A number of prizes are on offer for the kids courtesy of sponsors for the event.

The Superstox are with us for the first time in a few weeks – since that foggy evening which seen their final postponed. Natalie Mason is hoping to make an outing in the formula and Steven Gough hopes to make his debut in the ex David Lumsden car. Further back, Adam Low, Dean Johnston, Kenny McKenzie and Aaron Riddell will all be hoping to make good progress through the field of cars. The drivers will be looking to fine tune their setups, with their next outing being their 2024 Scottish Championship.

The Stock Rods always produce some of the closest, and most competitive racing here at Lochgelly Raceway, and we expect this Saturday to be no different. The front wheel drive formula is full of talent with next to nothing between many of the drivers. This makes overtaking a task in itself, and always produces some edge of your seat moments. Koddi Wright, David Crichton and Teri Linden all showed great pace last time out, proving challenging for the likes of Sean Naismith, Gary Dean and European Champion, Robbie Armit to both catch and overcome.

The National Hot Rods are the final formula in attendance – last weekend James Robertson raced to two heat wins, before Gordon Alexander took victory in the meeting final. Keith Chesher will be looking to build on his performance last week as he familiarizes himself with the car. Another driver aiming to familiarize themselves with there is Derek Connor. Derek debuted his Ginetta last week and showed good pace. Ethan Doull will be with us, and it is hoped that Ian Donaldson will also be in attendance. World, National and British Champion, Robert McDonald is set to race at Lochgelly for the first time since acquiring these titles.

Funds will be raised on the night, with donations going towards the additional support unit at Benarty Primary School.

50 50 TICKETS ARE AVAILABLE FROM THE MAIN RECEPTION FOR JUST £1 PER STRIP, WITH HALF THE TAKINGS GOING TO THE WINNER.

A reminder, motorsport can be dangerous. Please stay clear of the catch fence during racing, be observant throughout the event and keep all children accompanied at all times. All attendee’s are requested to drive with care whilst arriving and leaving the venue. Pedestrians and horse riders are a regular feature on the access road. Please give them room and respect.
