The weather did it’s best to put a damper on the action on Saturday at Lochgelly Raceway, but the drivers continued to provide some great racing with races fans taking shelter in the stands, or bringing their car into trackside parking.

The Stock Rods took centre stage as they raced for their Scottish Championship – being defended by 84 Robbie Armit. A pre-meeting grid draw would determine the grid for the opening heat, with heat 2 being reversed and the points tallied for the main event later in the night. Track conditions were challenging to say the least throughout the night as the drivers struggled for grip sending multiple drivers into drifts and spins. Stewart Paterson didn’t have any joy at all in the heats – often finding himself pointing the wrong way after a number of spins! Teri Linden was putting in some strong performances in the heats, coming away with a couple of good results in the heats. Robbie Armit took a convincing win in heat 1, before Darren McAlpine took the win in heat 2, holding on ahead of British Champion David Philp. The front row of the Scottish Championship seen Armit on pole position, with Philp on his outside. The Scottish Championship race was a bit of a stop start affair with a couple of race cautions along the way. Early in the race, Armit looked to be cruising and had built up a good lead before he came across a couple of back markers, including Sean Naismith. Armit found himself caught up a little with them allowing the pack to close a little, but he soon moved clear and looked to be on his way once more, at least until he lost a wheel on turn 2 sending him into a spin and the pack narrowly avoiding him, and a race caution as a result. A nascar stye restart followed, with the drivers choosing inside or outside on the rolling lap – some gambled with the outside, some stuck to the safety of the inside. The battle up front was now between Daniel Davidson and Teri Linden, with Davidson looking the quicker of the cars as he chased Linden down, and soon made a move on the inside of the 183 car. The two cars were side by side with Davidson ever so slightly ahead, with another caution coming out with Dean Heeps and Sean Naismith coming together with Heeps stricken against the wall. Another nascar style restart followed. The pack closed up once more. Davidson got the break at the start as Linden tucked in behind. Beyond that, it was a close battle between David Philp, Stewart Paterson, Kyle Hutchison and David Crichton. Teri Linden was chasing Daniel Davidson for the lead and there were multiple exciting battles on track at the same time as drivers jostled. Ultimately, it was Davidson that took the win ahead of Linden, with David Crichton completing the top 3.

The ORCi Ministox seen around 15 cars take to the track as they looked to provide some entertaining racing once more. We welcomed a couple of visiting drivers, as well as Zola Paterson making a rare Lochgelly outing. The evening started off with the HRP staging of the whites and yellows JusBounce race – open to anyone that started the season as a white or yellow graded driver. Oakley Grief took the win ahead of Lana Middler and Cody Wilson. The first main heat seen all cars take to the track, with National Points Leader Stuart Shevill taking a hard fought win ahead of Ollie Sime and Corey Mathers – with a few drivers penalised for pushing under a yellow flag. Heat 2 would see Mathers continue his fine Lochgelly form with another race win, finishing ahead of Bailey Wilson and Jamie Balfour. It was great to see the blue graded drivers all on form with strong performances throughout the night from Balfour, Lana Middler and Shaun Boyle. The meeting final seen Balfour take the win ahead of Bailey Wilson and Shaun Boyle.

The youngsters in the Ninja Karts were once more out in force, and didn’t let the wet conditions affect them as they continued to race round within inches of each other pushing as hard as they can. Lochie Heeps took a win in the whites and yellow race, pipping Brett Sneddon in the closing stages of the race, with Brett holding on excellently to keep Alix Martin at bay in the closing laps. Two all kart heats followed with some excellent racing throughout. Lochie Heeps looks to be in great form as he took some catching in both heats, with Alix Martin also putting in some great performances. Rory Wilson and Jayden Jeffrey took the heat wins ahead of the Autism Awareness final. It was another fast paced race with Rory Wilson proving to be the driver to beat once more as he heads towards the exit door in the Ninja Kart formula, as he took the win in the meeting final ahead of Lochie Heeps. Alfie Shevill took 3rd place.

The Superstox seen trophy sponsorship from Annete Chisolm Book Keeping, with some nice trophies up for grabs in the meeting final. Bryan Forrest was back out in action following his knock in the World Final race a few weeks ago, and took the win in both heats on Saturday. Regular visitor, Gary Chisolm took the win in the final just ahead of Bryan Forrest, with Benjamin Erskine completing the top 3. Dylan Anderson had a strong night throughout, with three good races, whilst Danny Whyte also looked to be on the pace in the wet before an axle issue forced him into retirement whilst leading heat 2.

The National Hot Rods completed the line up. Heat 1 became interesting for them as the race started off dry, before the rain came on midway through the race as the drivers raced on slick tyres. James Robertson took the win in heat 1, with Gordon Alexander going on to take a heat and final double thereafter.
