Wow, what a night it was on Saturday at Lochgelly Raceway – It had everything! A huge crowd created a fantastic atmosphere as the cheered on drivers, shouted for trophies and cheered every crash or exciting overtake!
The Van Bangers were the headline attraction as they competed in the final round of the Dhoom Indian Streatery Cash Chaser Series. 27 vans took to the track as they set about causing chaos!! From the 27 vans, only THREE completed the distance in the opening race such was the destruction caused. Ian Tait took the win in that race. Heat 2 seen the majority of vans return to the track and produced another exciting race with big hits, head ons and good avoiding skills! Sean McConachie provided great entertainment as he turned his yellow van around and went for a few hits, or to block the track. David Gibbons took the win in heat 2. The final race of the day for the vans see more great on track action, track blockages and big hits. Ciaran Adams was amongst the big hitters, despite sitting in the top 3 in the race at the time, decided to for a big hit on another van, before someone else came and gave him a big hit! Connor Jones took the win in the race, before Kailin Bryson took the win in the DD. After the points were tallied up, Max Fleckley took the series victory. Thanks to Dhoom for supporting the series.
The Ninja Karts were in attendance as they raced in the annual JusBounce event – an event that has seen a range of different winners over the years. Alfie Shevill was the driver looking to retain it, and was on a mission on the night. A difficult first heat seen him finish outside the top 10. Alfie MacLeod continued his run of good form as he raced to an excellent victory in heat 1, finishing ahead of Max Armit and Harley Wilson. Heat 2 seen the youngsters once more put in a fantastic display of racing. The star graded drivers charged through the field with little between them. There would be no catching the flying blue grade of Alfie MacLeod though, as he took his second win of the night. Rory Wilson tried his utmost to get through, but couldn’t make a move stick, and defended well against Jayden Jeffrey in the closing laps. The meeting final seen the grid closed up somewhat. The youngsters once more, excelled. A couple of stoppages seen the pack close up. A number of different drivers chopped and changed positions up front – Rory Wilson, Harley Wilson, Alfie Shevill to name a few, with Max Armit, Ryan Love, Alfie MacLeod and Jayden Jeffrey never too far away. Shevill got an excellent start and looked like he would be the one to beat, but once in front, seen himself get reeled in by those behind, before charging back to the front and having a fantastic race with those around him – a race that went the all the way to flag. It would be Rory Wilson that came out on top, just ahead of Alfie Shevill and Harley Wilson, with Max Armit just behind. Alfie MacLeod claimed the JusBounce series win though, as he came away as top point scorer on the night.
The U Pull It 1400 Stock Cars were in good form as they entertained throughout the night – Three races, and all nail-biting, hard hitting affairs. Greg Honeyman made an outing in the Kevin Graham car and got quicker as the night went on, whilst Lee Kopacz and Ryan Martin switched the ProStocks for the heavy metal formula. Kopacz looked quick but found himself getting caught up and on the receiving end of a few hits, whilst Ryan Martin managed to get a couple of points on the board for his efforts. Brant West has been in good form the last couple of meetings, and took another race win in the opening heat finishing ahead of Fraser Clark and British Champion Gary Nicholls. Nicholls himself looked to be in the best form of his season so far, as he finally looked to have the pace to compete. Patrick Calderwood made a return to racing and didn’t look like he had been away. Heat 2 seen him take the win with a big last bender on Chris Innes, with the pair crossing the line well out of shape! Calderwood capped off his return to racing with a win in the meeting final, finishing ahead of Brant West and Gary Nicholls.
The National Hot Rods competed in R3 of the Scottish WQS. The series so far has seen a few wins go the way of a few of the less experienced drivers, and that continued on Saturday as Craig McLaren took the victory in both heats, with heat 1 being a close finish with Gordon Alexander, who appeared to lose a gear out of turn 4 as the cars raced to the line. Paul Cusack was in the mix of a good race in the meeting final, until it went wrong on the last lap – losing control and hitting the wall on the exit of turn 4 unfortunately causing some damage to his car. Gordon Alexander took the win ahead of Ian Donaldson and Cameron Willacy.
The CC Rods raced in their Specialist Roofing event – with a few tyres up for grabs in the meeting final courtesy of the sponsor. A slightly different format from the norm seen two reverse grid heats formed – mixing things up and producing some good non-contact racing on the most part. Heat 1 did see a couple of unfortunate incidents though thankfully most cars made it back on track. Gavin Ritchie took the win in the opening heat, with Mike Linton taking the win in heat 2. Linton looked to be in the mix for a heat and final double, but a mistake in the closing stages seen him hit the wall and retire from the race. Kevin Donaldson went on to take the win ahead of Gavin Ritchie and Liam Conway.
Congratulations to all the winners and podium finishers, and a huge thank you to everyone who came along and supported racing at HRP Lochgelly Raceway.
Hardie Race Promotions would like to extend our gratitude to our 2026 season partners.
