Dickson Retains Scottish
Despite the best efforts of the weather, the racing on Saturday 19th July at Lochgelly Raceway was excellent throughout – with superb racing across all four formula.

The Junior Productions took centre stage as they battled it out for the 2025 Lothian Property Services Scottish Championship. Two reverse grid heats would determine the grid for the main race at the end of the night. Pre meeting, the eligible drivers drew their grid slot for heat 1, with heat 2 being reversed for heat 2. Lewis Dickson, William Plenderleith, Abe Adams and Archie Denholm would be required to start at the back of the 24 car grid for each of the heats having not participated in enough meetings this year to be part of the main grid. However, Dickson and Plenderleith would both be eligible to claim their grid place in the Scottish Championship race having raced previously this season. The Junior Productions have been a hit or a miss throughout the 2025 season, not knowing what to expect from one meeting to the next – carnage, or great racing, and thankfully on Saturday, it was the latter with lots of overtake and all round clean racing from the youngsters. Connor st Aubyn drove to a flag to flag victory in heat 1, with Lewis Duffy holding off Liam Conway and William Plenderleith in the closing stages to take a 2nd place finish. Heat 2 was another excellent race from the youngsters – Leeland Dearn drove excellent from the drop of the green flag to come away with a 4th place finish in this race, whilst Lee Moore, Connie Anderson and Caden Wotherspoon completed the top 3, with Moore running away with victory. The meeting final, and Scottish Championship race was another excellent race. Lee Moore, Connie Anderson, Lewis Duffy, William Plenderleith and Lewis Dickson occupied the front few rows, and with 2 rolling laps, the anticipation built up – the engines revved, and as the green flag dropped, Dickson made an excellent start and moved in the lead of the race, and opened up a gap behind him over the coming laps. A mid-race caution bunched the pack up once more, and a single file restart seen the race restarted with Dickson under pressure. Surviving the opening laps, Dickson once more opened up a lead to the drivers behind – Plenderleith had dropped out, and Moore and Anderson both raced closely for large parts of the race, with Caden Wotherspoon, Lewis Duffy and Liam Conway all close a little further behind too. Connor st Aubyn was up there too, though, he had made a meal of the restart and gained multiple places seeing him dropped 2 places for each car passed at the end of the race. Lewis Dickson claimed the victory in the Scottish Championship for the second year in succession, whilst Lee Moore and Connie Anderson closed out the top 3.

The U-Pull-It 1300 Stock Cars were racing for the Craig McNicol Memorial event. British Champion Gary Nicholls was defending the title that he won in 2024. Scott Lindsell made an outing in the McNicol car, whilst John Whyte also made his first outing of the season. Michael Stewart was in excellent form – sweeping to a win in both of the heats which seen him move back up to yellow grade. A close grid within grades seen the pack bunched up for the meeting final, and the McNicol race. It was a fantastic stock car race with the bumpers going in hard right from the first lap. The early stages seen Jamie Stewart, Darren Race, Kyle Strachan, Blair Robertson, Gary Nicholls and Joshua Machin all exchange blows as they battled to get to the front. It almost looked like Scottish Champion Jamie Stewart was going to get clear at once stage, though, a spin seen him drop back a few places to quickly rejoin. Machin somehow managed to break clear of the pack behind as they continued to exchange blows, and opened up a gap to those behind. The battle for 2nd, 3rd and the minor places continued throughout the race, with sparks flying as the cars clattered the wall on turns 3 and 4 throughout the race. Jamie Stewart came through to take 2nd behind Machin, whilst World Champion Darren Rae completed the top 3.

The National Hot Rods were in action for R1 in the 2025-26 World Qualifying Series, and it was good to welcome Marc Spence back to the track, whilst Paul Cusack also attended, though was plagued by a misfire throughout the night. Spence claimed the win in heat 1, before a clutch issue hampered him in heat 2, with Derek Connor taking the win. Spence led the majority of the way in the meeting final, before being overcome by Connor three quarters of the race in, though did hang on for 2nd place, with Ian Donaldson completing the top 3.

The Scapco Metal Recycling Ninja Karts were in action once more, and it was good to see so many new drivers on track – Sunny Hardie, Harry Ford, Jacob Green and Alex Cuthbert are all relatively new to the formula, and are all finding their feet at their own pace. Alfie MacLeod started off the evening with a win in the whites and yellows race, with Rudi Arcari and Harley Wilson completing the top 3. The first heat of the night went to Henry Hunn, with MacLeod 2nd and Christopher Lattka 3rd. Heat 2 would see Lattka claim victory ahead of MacLeod and Harley Wilson. The meeting final seen a hard fought race, with a mid race stoppage claiming Henry Hunn, Rory Wilson and Alfie MacLeod. Southern visitor George White would be awarded the win despite crossing the line in 2nd, whilst Blair Innes took away a 2nd place for his efforts. Christopher Lattka took 3rd place, having crossed the line in first but was penalised for a jump start at a race caution. The youngsters all drove excellently in extremely challenging conditions, and put in an excellent night of racing!
