Adams and Dean Claim Scottish Titles
It was a double Scottish Championship event on Saturday at Lochgelly Raceway as the Superstox and Stock Rods both contested their respective Scottish Championships. It was a rain savaged night though, with the conditions being the worst of the season.

The Superstox seen just under 20 cars take to the track for their main event. A pre-meeting grid draw seen reigning champion, Dean Johnston start from the rear end of the grid. Lee Livingston found himself leading the race early on before a yellow flag was called for, with some metal sitting just off the racing line. This closed the pack up and gave the others an opportunity to gain ground on the lead cars. Livingston got away well, with Ciaran Adams and Kenny McKenzie just behind, with Mark Brady also lurking. Johnston made a move on Livingston and into the lead of the race, though Livingston wouldn’t let him away, and put the bumper in into turn 1, resulting in both cars going towards the fence. Johnston would find himself pointing the wrong way with the bumper pressed against his tyre, whilst Livingston got away, and back into the lead of the race – The lead wouldn’t last long though, as the next lap seen Ciaran Adams latch onto the rear of the 55 car on the home straight, and pushed him wide towards the stricken Dean Johnston car. This seen 55 boxed in and out of contention. David Lumsden soon joined in on this pile up, after his throttle jammed open and he hit the wall before it, but also went into the rear of the Livingston car. Adams opened up a lead in the race, with Kenny McKenzie his closest challenger. McKenzie did close the gap, but wasn’t quite close enough to try a last bender on the 128 car. Adams crossed the line to take the win, with McKenzie 2nd and Mark Brady in 3rd. Two further heats followed the Scottish Championship race, with a fair amount of action in each of those. Jack Turbitt and Dean Johnston both came to blow on a number of occasions, with both failing to finish in one of the two heats. Ciaran Adams went onto claim a win in both heats, taking a hat-trick of wins on the night. Turbitt and Johnston find themselves separated at the top of the track points as they were going into the meeting..

The Stock Rods seen 17 cars take to the track on the night, with a couple of drivers not making it due to varying reasons. A pre-race grid draw seen 2 reverse grid heats, with those that hadn’t done enough meetings, starting at the back in graded order at the rear of the heats. James Robertson took the win in the opening heat, with Siobhan Martin claiming victory in the other. As the drivers lined up for the Scottish Championship, it was James Robertson that started on pole position, with Siobhan Martin alongside. As the green flag dropped, it was Robertson that got away first and into the lead of the race, whilst Siobhan Martin went sideways into turn 1, opening the door for a couple of drivers to overtake. Raymond Brown found himself in 2nd place, chasing down Roberston in the lead, and soon managed to find the grip to overtake him and move into the lead of the race. Robertson dropped back the order after this, with Siobhan Martin, Gary Dean and others managing to move up the places. Gary Dean closed down Brown up front, and soon moved into the lead of the race. Brown was then under pressure from the pack behind, but managed to hold on for a few laps, however, soon dropped back, with Dean McGill and Sean Naismith making excellent progress through the field and moving into 2nd and 3rd positions respectively. Brown would hang onto fourth, with Martin 5th and Lee McGill in 6th.

The ProStocks once more seen 20+ cars take to the track, in what was their final meeting of the season at Lochgelly Raceway. Gavin Ritchie would ultimately be confirmed at the track champion, and will be presented with the trophy at our end of season awards night. Owen Bonner crossed the line in 1st position, however, would find himself docked 4 places for starting in the wrong grade, with Paul Barron inhering the race win. Heat 2 would see Lewis Gilchrist take another race win at Lochgelly following his hat-trick last time out, this time from the blue grade, with Barron finishing in 2nd behind him. The meeting final would see Paul Barron win the race on his own accord, with Bonner and Mark Boyle finishing in 2nd and 3rd places.

The National Hot Rods competed in round 4 of their Scottish World Qualifying Series, with Steven Armit joining us on the grid as a visiting driver. Armit’s Autos were in fact the meeting sponsor on the night. Gordon Alexander was in excellent form, racing excellently to a commanding win in both of the heats. Alexander wouldn’t have it so easy in the final though, as the other drivers seemed to adapt to the conditions, with Ross McWilliam and Gordon having an excellent race for much of the final, with the pair racing bumper to bumper and side to side in terrible conditions. Marc Spence and Ian Donaldson came together mid-way through the race, with Spence appearing to lose the rear end out of turn 2, and Donaldson hitting a puddle out of 2, with the 2 cars tangling as a result, deemed as a racing incident with neither driver fully to blame. Alexander and McWilliam took advantage, and moved ahead at this point, with Donaldson following behind. Alexander and McWilliam continued to battle it out, and following a couple of coming together in the closing stages, both drivers were docked at the end of the race, with Donaldson taking the win!

The Classic Hot Rods were with us, with Adam Low taking a hat-trick of victories.

We are back this Saturday and Sunday, for two action packed days of racing, with over 60 Micro Bangers, 30+ Ministox, 30+ Junior Productions and 30+ 1300 Stock Cars set to race over the two days!!
