It was a lively night of stock car action on Saturday 17th May at Lochgelly Raceway, with plenty of on track entertainment.

Despite a low number of Micro Bangers, there were a few drivers out there hell bent on putting on a show – Scott Smith and Neil Sutherland were two such drivers, with both putting in the bumper to good effect – with Keiron Kinghorn and William Stawiarski coming away worse for wear with the pair having some pretty squashed cars! Logan Duncan was in great form as he raced to two race victories, whilst Jamie Sangster took the meeting final ahead of Luke Thompson. Keiron Kinghorn was awarded best presented car on the night, which will see him earn some points in our entertainers league, whilst Neil Sutherland took the DD win, and ultimately, the becoming the top point scoring driver on the night.

The CC Rods delivered some very close racing, with not too many major issues – though, there was a few bumps along the way. Heat 1 seen Michael Moyes clash with Kenny Pitcaithly, with Moyes sling-shotting towards the wall putting an end to his evenings racing with just a few laps to go in the opening heat. Alec Cunningham and Gregor Whyte were never too far away from each other, with Cunningham being penalized towards the end of the opening heat for a coming together with Whyte which seen Whyte forced out wide. Kevin Donaldson took the race win ahead of Ian Donaldson and Lee Scott. Heat 2 was another hard fought race from the CC Rod formula, with drivers keen to secure points in what was round 3 of the AC Roads and Driveways British Championship Qualifying Series. Kevin Donaldson once more took the victory, with Kenny Pitcaithly and Lee Scott completing the top 3. There would be no stopping Kevin Donaldson as he raced to a hat-trick of race wins, taking the meeting final on the night too – however, he was made to work for this one, with Ian Donaldson pushing him all the way to the flag!

The Junior Productions were once more in good numbers, with just under 20 cars taking to the track on the night. Various drivers fell victim of penalties on the night, with a few pushing the limits throughout the night – a non contact formula should see close racing, but the drivers should not be pushing each other. The youngsters always provide close, competitive racing, with very little between much of the grid, and it generally allows for lots of exciting racing on track. There was something in the air on the night though, as right from the first green flag, there were incidents, with 900 Candice Smart and 232 Nicole Innes tangling. Lewis Duffy debuted his new car on Saturday, and was right on the pace with it, claiming his best points haul of the season so far, starting off with a runners up spot in the opening race, finishing behind cousin Aiden. Lewis Duffy would claim victory in heat 2, with Aiden finishing second and Kenzie Kopacz promoted to third upon review of footage at the end of the event. A yellow flag caution in heat 2 was required for the stricken Jayden Barrie car, with a few further penalties issued after the race. Aiden Duffy took a further race win in the meeting final, whilst Lewis Duffy and Callum Ritchie completed the top 3.

The Superstox welcomed Ollie Jones, who made his first visit to Lochgelly Raceway, and performed well throughout the night. Ollie and Chris Stephen had a few good battles during the course of the races, with little between the pair at times. Aaron Riddell took a hat-trick of race wins as he closes in on the National Points Championship. Scott Devine must have thought he was going over at once stage, having collected a spinning car and his car shooting up into the air!

The 2.0 Hot Rods welcomed a number of visitors, with the World Final only a few weeks away. Ben Murray, Drew McKeown and Jason Secker joined us, whilst Natalie Mason made her debut in the formula. Ben Murray took the win in the opening heat, finishing ahead of Allan Gibson and Charlie Hardie. Allan Gibson looked back to his best, as he claimed victory in heat 2, holding off British Champion Drew McKeown and Ben Murray. The meeting final seen Murray claim another victory, with Hardie and Keith Brown completing the top 3.

We’re back in action on Saturday 24th May, with the ProStocks, Rookie Bangers, U-Pull-It 1300 Stock Cars, National Hot Rods and Ministox all featuring – 5.30pm start time.
