It was a fast and furious night of racing with 15 exciting races taking place on Saturday 14th March at Lochgelly Raceway.
The 1600 Bangers headlined the agenda as they raced for the first ever Inter-Nations Championship. A pre-race grid draw determined the starting positions for the main race, with Incarace Draws determining the grids for the latter races. Drivers from throughout the UK and Ireland joined us for the event, though, a few late cancellations meant numbers were down a little. The Internations Championship race was an exciting race as the drivers diced for positions with multiple drivers in contention for victory throughout. Gav Taylor was always up front having started from pole position, but Ryan Martin, Dylan Ward, Adrian Martins, Paul Barron and Jamie George were in the mix throughout the race, though Barron found himself spun out of contention midway through. The front few drivers chopped and changed, with Dylan Ward snatching third place away from Martins with a delicate last bend hit, opening the gap enough for him to come through, without losing out to those behind in the process. Gav Taylor took the victory, with Ryan Martin finishing second and Dylan Ward third. The following races were equally as exciting with last lap changes, multi car battles and not knowing who would come out on top at the end. 521 Jack Coveney took a win in the first main heat after dispatching Paul Barron and Scott Gardner on the last lap, whilst Gav Taylor took a further win in heat 2. We’d like to thank everyone for joining us, with a special mention to those that quite literally, lived at the opposite end of the country!
The ORCi Ministox competed for the first time at Lochgelly in 2026 with a few new drivers taking to the track – Oakley Grief and Cody Wilson both made there first outings in a Ministox at Lochgelly, whilst we welcomed Jack Wadling for the first time too – having made the trek from Autospeed territory. Caitlin Mitchell made a return to Lochgelly Raceway too, and showed good pace throughout the event. Wadling looked quick in pre-meeting practice and followed that up with a good performance in the opening heat, where he managed to bring his car home to a third place finish. Jayden Roff took the win ahead of Jamie Balfour. Heat 2 was another good race from the youngsters with Stuart Shevill coming from the rear of the grid to take the win ahead of Bailey Wilson and Finlay Gemmell. The meeting final went the way of Jayden Roff who took his second win of the night, whilst Shevill and Wilson completed the top 3. Lana Middler drove excellently and just missed out on a top three finish in the meeting final – a result that will do her confidence wonders for meetings to come.
The Stock Rods once more provided lots of very close racing throughout the night, with the star graded drivers having to fight extremely hard to come through a competitive field of drivers. Keith Stewart made his debut in the formula, whilst Leon Stewart also managed to make his debut having had issues at our season opener. Stewart Paterson seen, what appeared to be his engine, go bang in the second heat putting an end to his night of action. Craig Harrison made his first outing of the year as the formula looks set to have very good numbers in weeks to come. Robbie Armit raced to victory in the opening heat with Lee McGill and Teri Linden following behind. Heat 2 came along and there would be no catching Aiden McKinnon, who raced to victory. Sean Naismith put a shift in as he took his car to second place ahead, finishing ahead of Kyle Hutchison. The meeting final was another closely contested race with Daniel Davidson showing good pace throughout and proving to be a strong driver throughout the race despite a lot of pressure from the more experienced drivers behind. Teri Linden, Kyle Hutchison, Lee McGill and Sean Naismith were never too far away from each other throughout, and it was impossible to predict how they’d finish. McKinnon though, once more raced to victory which will see him move up a grade for this weekend, with Robbie Armit finishing behind him. Daniel Davidson defended excellently for third position.
The National Hot Rods once more provided very close racing. James Mooney once more joined us, whilst John Sibbald debutised his new car and showed excellent pace in each of the three races, as he seen himself come away with a hat-trick of 2nd place finishes for his efforts. John will be satisfied with that as he looks to learn more about his new car in the coming weeks. Roy Anderson who returned to racing last time out, took a well deserved victory in the opening heat ahead of Sibbald and Barry Stephen. Heat 2 would see Ross McWilliam show great pace and cross the line in first, though, was deemed to have made contact during the race which seen him drop to third. Barry Stephen gratefully accepted the win. The meeting final would be another excellent race as the drivers battled closely throughout – Gordon Alexander and Ross McWilliam were in close contention for long periods in the race, whilst John Sibbald chased down Barry Stephen up front. Come the end of the race, less than 3 seconds separated the top 4, with Barry Stephen taking victory ahead of Sibbald and McWilliam. John Sibbald set the fastest lap of the night, with a 13.116 in the opening heat.
The 1400 Stock Cars once more provided metal crunching action with hard hitting racing throughout each race. The formula is providing the action, and they’ll certainly be a must see formula come the European Championship here in May. Fraser Clark continued his impressive start to the season as he took victory in the opening heat – with Dean McGill continuing his on-track battle with Joshua Machin and Charlie Henry, both of whom will be looking to get revenge on the 263 car in the future! Brant West showed good consistency throughout the night, taking a second place finish in each of the 2 heats. Charlie Henry has started the season well as well, and took another race win for her efforts on Saturday night in heat 2, as she held off Dean McGill who made a last lap effort to catch the 36 car, with West pipping McGill to the line as well. The meeting final seen McGill in the thick of the action too, as his battle with Kai McNulty resurfaced, with the pair trading blows on a couple of occasions throughout the race and McNulty receiving a black flag for his actions during the race. Abe Adams drove excellently as he found his feet in the formula, and raced to a convincing victory ahead of Craig Haxton and Connor Jones.
We are back in action on Saturday 21st March as we welcome the Micro Bangers for the first time as they race in R1 of the Fife Medical Group World Cup Qualifying Series. The Junior Bangers, Junior Productions, Stock Rods and Superstox all also compete with racing getting underway at 5.30pm.
Hardie Race Promotions would like to extend our gratitude to our 2026 season partners.
