The impressive start to the season continued at HRP Lochgelly Raceway on Saturday 21st March with all formula producing exciting, dramatic and entertaining racing.
The Superstox once more provided brilliant racing providing end to end action in each of the three races for the formula. The bumpers went in at all opportunities, but respectfully and fairly without destroying cars. This kept the entertainment going throughout the races, with the crowd not knowing when the hit would come from some drivers, or if others would drive off into the sunset. Gary Chisolm paid us a visit for the first time this season and will no doubt be back at upcoming events as he looks to tweak his car around Lochgelly Raceway to maximise performance ahead of the ASD Racing Products World Championship here in September. Craig Stephen and Danny Whyte made their first outings of the season and both seemed to struggle at times throughout the night, but kept at it as they got some points on the board. Mirran Adams put in a solid performance as well – keeping things moving and not letting the incident last time out phase her at all as she too came away with some points for her efforts. Adam Low, Bryan Forrest and Aaron Riddell regularly exchanged blows, with both Forrest and Riddell popping in sub 14 second laps throughout the night. Benjamin Erskine continued his upward trajectory in the formula as he took away a further 2 third place finishes. Bryan Forrest had the edge on Aaron Riddell on this occasion, as he used his experience wisely and survived a few late hits from Riddell to take a hat-trick of victories on the night.
The Junior Bangers made the first of several outings this season at HRP Lochgelly Raceway with the youngsters producing some good racing in each of the three races. We welcomed a couple of southern visitors with us, who we appreciate making the effort to make the trip north. The Junior Bangers looked to be the way forward as we look to push on banger racing in Scotland for years to come, and it was good to see 10 different Scottish based drivers in attendance. The youngsters showed no fear as a few got stuck in, with Jason Bain finding the wall in the opening race, whilst Jayden Barrie and Dougie Kidd also came together in the opening heat, with Barrie coming away worse for wear. Scott Ramsay Jnr took the win in the opening heat, holding off Kenzie Kopacz and Tommy Melrose in the closing stages. Ramsay came close to making it 2 wins in heat two, but found himself closed down by Melrose in the closing stages, with Kopacz taking the chance to get by the Ramsay car too – but it was ever so tight between the drivers, with very good racing provided by the youngsters. The meeting final seen Dougie Kidd make the jump at the start, but it was deemed a little too quick as he found himself with a black cross early on. Kidd soon moved clear in the lead of the race, with Tommy Melrose and Scott Ramsay unable to close him down – but with the jump start it was Melrose that took victory.
The Stock Rods once more provided super competitive racing, with three different winners on the night – Kevin Stewart took the win in heat 1, before an issued retired him from the meeting in heat 2. Keiran McKinnon took a win in heat 2 on what was his first outing of the season, whilst Daniel Davidson held on excellently to take the win in the meeting final with a host of experienced drivers on his back bumper come the checkered flag. Jamie-Lee Callis made the trip north to join us.
The Junior Productions had an eventful night with plenty of on track action, and some really good racing. The youngsters provide some excellent raw talent, but at times, awareness around them often causes a few incidents – but that is all part of the learning and developing future championship winning drivers. Louie Hendry has taken to the formula superbly, adding a further two wins to his short career in the class as he looks to be one to watch in years to come. Callum Ritchie broke the lap record in heat 2 as he chased down Louie Hendry up front to no avail, whilst the meeting final seen Ritchie claim victory ahead of Bella Brown and Kenzie Kopacz, with Kopacz having another strong meeting.
The Micro Bangers completed the line up with around 15 cars in attendance. From the outset, some drivers got stuck in, whilst other set about chasing points. It allowed for some unpredictability and some great on track action. Sean McConnachie took a heat and final double, whilst Archie Speirs took a victory in heat 2. Luke Thompson flew under the radar with good results in all three races.
We are back in action on Saturday 28th March as we welcome the U Pull It 1400 Stock Cars in R1 of the SP Utilities Series. The National Hot Rods, CC Rods, Ninja Karts and ProStocks all also feature with racing getting underway at 5.30pm.
Hardie Race Promotions would like to extend our gratitude to our 2026 season partners.
