It was an eventful Saturday night at Lochgelly Raceway, with something in the air amidst the non-contact drivers with several, finding the non-contact part a little bit difficult to adhere too! The 1300 Stock Cars drivers were also on it, with lots of pushing, hitting and general excellent racing ongoing throughout the night as well!

The youngsters in the Service Central sponsored Ninja Karts were in great form – over 30 karts taking to the track throughout the night including an array of English based drivers again making the trip north to be with us. The first race of the night, as is the norm for the kids, was the whites and yellows race – with around 15 karts on track. It was a race that would set the tone for the night – a crash on the first lap would see Jayden Roff, Rory Wilson, Sophie Abbott and Henry Hunn all involved in a hefty shunt bringing the track to a halt and a complete restart. There was a further yellow flag once the race got going, with Thomas Gilboy and Jackson Burrell stranded on turn 3. It was Layton Cairns that would come away with victory in the race, followed by Finley Weston. Finley seems to be getting accustomed to the Lochgelly Raceway oval, having picked up some good results at the last two events. Rayah Burns and Matthew McIntyre would take second and third place respectively. Heat 1 seen 26 karts on track and another exciting and action packed race for the youngsters. There was an early yellow flag for 96 Thomas Gilboy who found himself stuck on track in a tricky position resulting in a further yellow flag caution in the Ninja Karts. Kenzie Bell, in his final meeting in the formula before reaching retirement age, would go on to take the first of his two race wins on the night in emphatic form. The youngster was certainly up for it on the night as he put in a sterling performance in each of his races. Finley Weston would bring his kart home in second place yet again, whilst Clark Ferris would take the third place spot. Heat 2 seen things settle somewhat in the Ninja Karts, with some good fast racing to be seen throughout the race. There was however, still a couple of yellow flags during the race, with Sophia Allen being idle on track after her chain came off, and also Louie Hendry stuck on the racing line with a couple of laps to go. Kenzie Bell would take another great victory, albeit, with Clark Ferris not too far behind on this occasion. Max Taylor took third position. The third and final Ninja Kart race of the evening would see Kai Webber facing the wrong way on the home straight, lodged against the armco, resulting in a race caution. Clark Ferris would take the race win on this occasion, leading home the 721 kart of Kenzie Bell. William Hunn would finish in third position.

The Stock Rod Rods were back with us and would be racing under their new grades for the first time. A number of drivers now find themselves starting a little further back, which would spread out the pack somewhat in the early stages of each race. Raymond Brown started on the front row of the white grades for the opening heat, and stormed to a commanding race victory in a closely fought race, with drivers showing each other a lot of respect on track, providing good close racing for the formula. Heat 2 would go the way of fellow white graded driver, Brandon Gourlay. Gourlay would race clear of the pack early on, with Thomas Brown and Kyle Hutchison having a good battle behind for second place. A few coming togethers in the race would see a few drivers penalized for contact, including Stewart Aitken, James Robertson and Shane Allen. The final would be lined up based on the points scored from the 2 qualifying heats, and the white graded drivers would find themselves at the front having scored well in the heats. As the race got underway, Brandon Gourlay got away well and into the lead of the race, but with a star studded field of cars behind, it was going to be tough to retain that position. Siobhan Martin soon found her way through into the lead of the race and opened up a gap behind her, though Gary Dean did keep her honest as he charged through once clear of the pack, as Siobhan dealt with back markers. Dean would however find himself demoted from second following some contact during the race, with Kyle Hutchison also falling foul to the decision of the race steward on the night. Darren McAlpine and David Crichton would bring their cars home in second and third place, as they look to secure qualification for the major events throughout the year.

The National Hot Rods found themselves competing in the latest round of their Scottish World Qualifying Series. Marc Spence made a welcome return to racing following a lay-off with some damage last time he was out. Doug McLean is a driver that seems to be consistently improving in the formula, and would find himself holding off much of the pack during each of the races on the night. Ross Mcwilliam was a driver on a mission, seemingly blowing everyone else out of the water with scintillating pace in each of the races. A couple of coming togethers with drivers though, would see him demoted from a race win in both the opening heat and meeting final – co-incidentally, both instances involving the 629 car of John Sibbald. Heat 1 would go the way of Doug McLean following the docking of Ross. Ross took victory in heat 2 as he cemented his lead at the top of the Scottish points charts. McLean would bring his car home in second place, with Darren Scott in third. The meeting final would see the drivers take to the track for the final time ahead of the European Championship in a few weeks time. McWilliam would cross the line in first, though would be docked down to third, with Gordon Alexander inheriting the race win, and McLean moving up into second.

The 1300 Stock Cars seen over 20 cars take to the track, with Ryan Muirhead and Samuel Douglas both making their debut in the formula. David Farrell continued his impressive form in the formula in only his second outing, taking a double heat win which will see him promoted up a grade ahead of next weekend. Heat 2 was a close finish however, with Billy Wilson crossing the line narrowly behind the 117 car and with another lap, would have likely have taken victory. Kyle Hegg took victory in the meeting final ahead of Craig Haxton and Darren Rae, with less than half the field completing race distance in what was a tremendous race!

We are back this Saturday for more great racing, featuring the 1300 Stock Cars, CC Rods, 2.0 Hot Rods and Junior Productions.
