It was a damp and greasy Saturday night of racing at Lochgelly Raceway, with rain throughout the day in the build up to the meeting – albeit the rain stayed off for the majority of the racing.

The Ninja Karts featured in their Autism Awareness event, with extra prizes on offer from a couple of sponsors – M90 Autosport, Dickies Recovery & Furlongs Detail and Valeting, The Beauty Mechanic, Direct Car Care and Calum Michie. The youngsters kicked off their night with the whites and yellows race, with Louie Hendry storming to an excellent race win, with Jayden Lee Jeffrey taking 2nd place ahead of Cameron Mason. Heat 1 of the night seen Dougie Kidd cross the line first, but would find himself demoted 4 places for a couple of infringements during the race – 2 for jumping a restart, and 2 places for contact on the 147 car during the race. This swung the battle for the points championship in the favour of Stuart Shevill Jnr, who inherited the race win as a result, with Katie Lee Smart and Jayden Lee Jeffrey completing the top three. Jayden Lee Jeffrey was having an excellent night of things, and went one better in heat 2, taking a race win ahead of the resurgent Dougie Kidd, who claimed second place in the closing stages from Calvin Courts. The meeting final seen the youngsters line up in graded order, based on the points scored from the 2 heats. Jayden Lee Jeffrey opened up a good lead in the race, though would find himself overtaken by Dougie Kidd in the last couple of laps – with Kidd going onto take the race win, and the Autism Awareness shield. Jeffrey finished in second place, with Shevill Jnr a little further back in third. With it being the last meeting of the season, the points championship would be decided – Shevill Jnr coming out on top by just 1 point in what was a titanic battle across the season between the formula’s top drivers.

The National Hot Rods found themselves with another wet meeting, and there would be some close battles throughout the evening. Steven Armit and Roy Anderson found themselves suited the wet and greasy conditions, with the two drivers having a good night and coming away with a good haul of points for their efforts in their quest for World Final qualification in 2023. William Hardie would dominate proceedings however, with a hat-trick of race wins, though Ross McWilliam will still lead the way at the top of the points charts. Roy Anderson would take away a tyre for his efforts on the night, courtesy of Precision Engine Services.

A few more Superstox turned up to race than were booked in before the event, and the difficult conditions made for some great battles throughout the night, with the conditions proving to be a bit of a leveller on the night. Dean Johnston and Bryan Forrest had some titanic battles, with both giving each other a few good hits in each of the races – though there would be nothing of malice, despite the racing line being in close proximity to the wall. Paul Mackie took a much deserved race win in the opening heat – a win that has been coming over the last couple of meetings, with Aaron Riddell and Kenny McKenzie completing the top three in the opening race. Heat two would see Riddell come out on top, with Ciaran Adams and Mark Brady taking second and third spots respectively. The meeting final seen a scrappy start to the race, with Mark Brady eventually being awarded the race win, and the Hoosier tyre as a result. Dean Johnston would be the driver that came out on top of the Hoosier series for 2022 – and took another tyre for his continued efforts throughout the season.

The Stock Rods welcomed a couple of new drivers into the formula – former CC Rod driver Brandon Gourlay, and current CC Rod driver, James Robertson. Both of whom are expected to make a full time switch to the Stock Rod formula in 2023, amongst a number of other drivers. Robertson would himself take the opening race win ahead off Gourlay – Gourlay defended admirably from the pack behind to hang onto second place, ahead of Siobhan Martin. Rhys Forrest drove a blinder of a race in heat 2, holding off numerous challenges throughout the race to claim another excellent race win. Forrest held a magnificent inside line as David Crichton, Gary Dean, Siobhan Martin, Stewart Aitken and Darren McAlpine all challenged throughout the race. The meeting final would go the way of Siobhan Martin, with Crichton finishing in another excellent second position ahead of Rhys Forrest.

The 2.0 Hot Rods were with us for the first time since their Scottish Championship a couple of weeks ago – with Keith Brown showing off the Saltire for the first time. Greg Honeyman made a return to the formula in the Stuart MacDonald car, whilst Keith Chesher also made an appearance in the Andy Adams car. Marc Honeyman would be the driver to beat however – storming to an unstoppable hat-trick of race wins on the night, that will see him promoted back upto red grade. James Morris was the best of the rest – taking three runners up spots behind the 107 car.

We are back in action this Friday night – with almost 30 1300 Stock Cars set to take to the track, alongside the CC Rods and Ministox. First race, 7pm!
