Youngsters Set To Shine In Easter Event Youngsters Set To Shine In Easter Event Youngsters Set To Shine In Easter Event
The final meeting of the first full month of racing is upon us in the 2024 season, and Easter weekend is set to provide some fantastic racing.

Five great formula take to the track, with the Superstox, CC Rods, ORCi Ministox, ProStocks and Junior Productions all in action. The racing gets underway at 5.45pm.

The Superstox formula contest their A1 Containers R Us British Championship here at Lochgelly Raceway at the beginning of May, and a number of visiting drivers have made the trip to be with us already, as they look to get some track time ahead of that event. This Saturday will see a few visiting drivers once more join us – Randal Lynn, Gary Chisolm and Bradley Brooker. Michael Taylor hasn’t had any joy as yet this year, with issues hampering each of his events so far – he’ll be hoping to have got to the bottom of the issues as he aims to get in some laps. Dean Johnston has started the season off excellently, taking multiple race wins already, whilst Ciaran Adams and Kenny McKenzie have regularly been front runners. Mirran Adams will be with us once more, a few days after celebrating her 18th birthday, so we aren’t quite sure how her head will be come Saturday evening!!

The ORCi Ministox have been a mainstay in providing entertaining racing over the last few years, with some excellent battles and top quality racing from the youngsters. The drivers, permitted to push each other out of the way, regularly have tit for tat battles where one drivers finds it difficult to break away from another, often allowing others to get involved in the battle as well offering some thrilling races. Cole Ford is set to make his first home appearance of the season having missed out at the first few events due to not quite having the car race ready. Caitlin Mitchell joins us once more – Caitlin put in a excellent showing here at Lochgelly towards the end of 2023, and she’ll be aiming to replicate that form this weekend. Kevin Graham and David Philp have both been front runners this year, with both drivers scoring well in the early part of the season.

The ProStocks have been a resurgent formula, with some excellent nudge and spin racing witnessed, particularly over the last half a dozen meetings or so for the class. Grady Ross and John Jackson were both in great form last time out, with Grady crossing the line 1st in a couple of races, although, only took away the 1 win. Jackson took away 2 wins on that occasion and as such, moved upto a blue grade for this weekends event. Hollie Ritchie has been unfortunate with her luck, despite showing good pace and some solid performances, she didn’t have a lot to show for her efforts last time – a maiden win can’t be far off for the 314 pilot. Dougie Kidd had some of his most enjoyable racing at our first event of the season, and he’ll be hoping for more of the same this week, but taking away a few more points in the process.

The CC Rods have had a slow start to the year, with a few drivers switching formula over the winter months, however, as is always the case from the non-contact class, it always seems to re-generate interest, with numbers certain to rise once more. Kevin Hutchison is set to make a return to action, whilst Kieron McIntyre will be looking to get out on track as well. Gregor Whyte and Lee Scott have been in close contention over the last few meetings, with the pair looking to challenge for the points championship. Alec Cunningham is set to move on into the Stock Rod class, whilst Brandan Gourlay has sold his car, with a few new drivers expected to make their first outings in the not too distant future. Garry Roberts is hopeful of making his first appearance of the season, with a brand new built car.

The Junior Productions are with us, and this Saturday, have an added incentive of a tyre up for grabs courtesty of WUL Enterprises. The kids are all set to take away an Easter treat courtesy of the Junior Production fundraising team. On track, the formula has continued to nourish the sports top up and coming drivers, with several having moved on to be successful in senior classes. The 2024 campaign is only just getting underway, but the likes of Lewis Dickson, Jack Baird, Lewis Duffy and Connie Anderson all look set to be regular front runners this year. Liam Loggie is set to make his first outing of the campaign. Brooke McMullan and Nicole Innes both had excellent meetings last time out, with the girls taking the challenge to the boys. Both will once more be hoping for strong performances as they continue to build their on track confidence. Aiden Duffy, Dale Sutherland and many more will be looking to find consistency and bring some good results in the process.

The drivers sign in office will open at 2.00pm, whilst practice will get underway at 3.00pm.

Drivers are reminded that they are responsible for leaving a tidy pit area, utilizing the bins provided, or taking rubbish away with them. Any teams found to be leaving their pit area untidy, will be fined and possibly banned from attending race meetings.

The spectator gates will open at 3.00pm, with trackside parking only available on a first come first served basis. High sided vehicles are requested to park on the upper level, and the far end of the middle level, so not to obstruct views of those behind them.
