A Fantastic Night In Prospect A Fantastic Night In Prospect A Fantastic Night In Prospect
Saturday 9th March at Lochgelly Raceway will see four of Scotland’s top formula take to the track in an action packed, adrenaline fulled night of racing.

The U-Pull-It 1300 Stock Cars started the season off in great form on the 24th February, and we can expect an even better night of racing this weekend, with more drivers currently booked to race already, with a few more also expected to join the list. Jake Wilson, Craig Haxton and Kyle Hegg were the winners last time out, although, on the night, there could have been several more winners with some great performances throughout the night. Craig Warner would have been delighted with his performance, and he will be looking to maintain that momentum into this weekends event, as he looks to take that top step on the podium on at least one occasion on Saturday. Gary Nicholls knows his way around Lochgelly Raceway, and has won in a number of formula across the years, and he is expected to make his first outing of the season on Saturday as he looks to move his way up the rankings. Charlie Henry is set to make her season debut as well – the girl racer isn’t shy in getting stuck in, and is as quick as anyone on her day, and will be one to watch on Saturday night. Kyle Roberts and Stuart Hall are both set to make their season debuts as well, with Hall making his debut in the class. With a few drivers yet to book in, we could see around 25 cars take to the tight Lochgelly Raceway come Saturday night – more than enough to provide hard hitting, action packed stock car racing.

The ORCi Ministox are with us for the second week in succession, and are once more, proving to be a formula littered with talent. Last Saturday, we seen Kevin Graham stand out as the surprise entrant, as he stormed to a fantastic heat and final victory. He will be looking to repeat that this Saturday night. However, with a track full of cars, it won’t be straight forward. British Champion Charlie Hardie managed to take a win last weekend as he looks to end his Ministox career on a high with only half a season to compete before moving into the 2.0 Hot Rod class. David Philp Jnr Jnr will be looking to claim a victory this weekend, having finished in the top 4 in every race last weekend, a first win of the season is certainly on the horizon. Stuart Shevill Jnr Jnr makes the step up from the Ninja Karts, and is set to make his season debut this Saturday night at Lochgelly Raceway. Racing in the opposite direction from Ninja Karts, and in a bigger vehicle, it will be interested to see how quickly the 618 pilot adapts to the change – or will he hit the ground running and be challenging for race victories from the outset? Only time will tell!! The 2023 Most Improved driver, Shaun Boyle, showed some great pace last weekend – although struggled with reliability throughout the night. The team will be hoping to have cured the issues as he looks to get some more good points on the board this weekend. The youngsters in the Ministox never fail to put on a show, will keep you on the edge of your seat, and certainly entertain throughout the evening!!

The ProStock class make their season debut this Saturday night, and it looks like the formula is set to carry on from how they finished the 2023 season, with good car numbers, and excellent on track racing as a result. 2023 World Cup winner Dougie Kidd is set to be with us leading the way, alongside National Points Champion Robert Conway. Lochgelly Track Champion Gavin Ritchie is also set to be with us. A large proportion of experienced drivers now race within the formula, and as a result, the formula has seen some epic tit for tat battles over the last year or so. We can expect this to continue this season as a number of other drivers look to win some silverware in 2024. Callum McIvor, Paul Barron, Graeme Fleming, John Jackson and Mark Boyle to name a few. Hollie Ritchie made good progress after her progression into the class late in 2023, and she’ll be hoping to challenge for race victories in 2024. The returning Grady Ross will be hoping that he isn’t too rusty, and will be able to match the pace of the others around him on track as he begins his 2024 assualt.

The National Hot Rods provided some great racing at our season opener, with some fantastic looking machinery on display. The formula is the pinnacle of non-contact oval racing in the UK, and a formula that many drivers strive to be able to compete in. Gordon Alexander has been a front runner of late, taking a win in the meeting final 2 weeks ago for his efforts. James Robertson and Ethan Doull both made their debuts at that meeting, and both will be looking to build on that experience this weekend. Ross McWilliam has been one of the quickest drivers in Scotland over the last number of years, and will be pushing to make inroads into the World Rankings Charts in the 2nd half of the campaign. The north of Scotland based driver shows great commitment to the formula and is a regular attendee here at Lochgelly Raceway. Darren Scott debuted his new car at the season opener, and he too will be aiming to score consistently well to push him up the points charts. Ian Donaldson was a driver in great form at our season opener, proving that the years of experience he has on the ovals is not to be underestimated. The 700 pilot proved that he still has what it takes to compete at the front, and ‘The Duck’ will be hoping for another strong showing on Saturday night.

The drivers sign in office will open at 2.15pm and close 30 minutes before the first race. Practice will get underway at 3.40pm.

Drivers are reminded that they are responsible for leaving a tidy pit area, utilizing the bins provided, or taking rubbish away with them. Any teams found to be leaving their pit area untidy, will be fined and possibly banned from attending future race meetings.

The spectator gates will open at 3.30pm, with trackside parking only available on a first come first served basis. High sided vehicles are encouraged to park on the upper level, and the far end of the middle level, so not to obstruct views of those behind them.
