It’s time for the 1300 Stock Cars Direct Car Care Scottish Championship, this Saturday at Lochgelly Raceway. Blair Robertson won the title superbly in 2022 and will be hoping for a good draw on Saturday as he looks to defend his title. National Points Champion, Kyle Hegg will be looking to win the championship once more, as he looks to add to his list of achievements in the 1300 Stock Car formula. Fraser Clark and Darren Rae have both been in great form of late, with both drivers picking up a number of race wins in recent events. A pre-race random grid draw will determine who starts where, and could play a defining factor in the outcome of the race, and how the race unfolds… If some of the top drivers are near the back, you can expect them to be going in hard with the bumper in the opening laps as they look to make up ground, and potentially try and get a yellow flag to close the pack in too! Charlie Henry has shown good pace at times through the year, but has been plagued by bad luck, and seems to get caught up in the spectacular incidents, wherever she races! The only female driver on the grid will be looking for some good luck this Saturday, as she looks to take glory. With over 20 cars expected to be on the grid.. It could be lively!
The National Micro Bangers will be in attendance as they being to gear up for one of their biggest meetings of the season here in October, as the World Cup is staged.. This Saturday, one lucky driver will win a place on the grid for the main event in October. The overall top point scorer on the meeting will gain the wildcard place – points will be accrued between attendance points, race results, and an entertainer award in each race – with 5 bonus points on offer for race for the entertainer. To maximise the drivers points, it is important that they book in, or any attendance points will be halved if they are not booked in!
The youngsters in the Service Central sponsored Ninja Karts are with us once more, with a few far travelling drivers joining us. Jake Barnett makes the trip across the water, whilst Kai Webber, Danny Hunn, William Hunn and Jayden Roff make the trip from England to be with us. The Ninja Karts have provided some fantastic racing this season, with a great deal of drivers making huge strides throughout the year. Abigail Chalmers has found good form, and his brimming with confidence at the moment, having taken a few great results in recent events. Stuart Shevill Jnr has had a superb season, at home and on his travels, picking up the European Championship along the way, Shevill will be looking to tie up the points championship as he nears the end of his Ninja Kart days. Rory Wilson came out in a brand new kart last time out, and set some impressive lap times in practice – but a big shunt in one of the races meant an ailing kart. It’s all been sorted now though, and he’ll be looking to turn the lap times into victories. Christopher Lattka has came on well since he decided to make an appearance in the formula – with the youngster taking a superb win in Northern Ireland a couple of weeks ago!
The ProStocks are the final formula in attendance, and are the third contact formula on the bill too. The formula has seen some good racing this year, with the likes of Gavin Ritchie stepping up and challenging for the points championship. Ritchie has been in good form in the last couple of meetings, and will be looking to take command at the top of the charts, with a couple of drivers unable to attend. John Mason is in with the bricks in the formula, a driver that has raced them since they were introduced many years ago. The 760 pilot continues to grind out results, and will be hoping to take away some more good points on Saturday.
The action gets underway at 6pm on Saturday (Ninja Kart whites and yellows at 5.45pm), with spectator gates opening at 3.30pm. Drivers sign in office will open at 2pm.
