This Saturday at Lochgelly Raceway, we welcome the Micro Bangers once more in their final time ahead of the 2023 World Cup event in October. The Micro Bangers will be racing for a seeded place on the grid, with one place available. Drivers will score points for attending, race positions, and for participating in the demolition derby at the end of the day, with the DD winner gaining further bonus points. The HRP seeding allocations are also still unconfirmed, with a number of drivers in contention for these places.
The CC Rods are with us for the first time since their Scottish Championship event a couple of weeks ago, and Alec Cunningham will be showing off the saltire for the first time. Steven Adair will be hoping to continue his good form and grind out a few more good results this weekend. Ian Christie has been one of the most consistent drivers of the season, and will once more be looking to come away with a good haul of points. The ‘non-contact’ formula has proven to eventful at times, with a mixed range of skillsets on track, but generally, the formula provides some great racing, with a great deal of respect amongst the drivers.
The 2.0 Hot Rods are with us following their Scottish Championship last week, where Keith Brown successfully defended his title. Brown will be with us this weekend as he looks to become the dominant Scottish based driver in the chase for the points championships. Englishman, Mark Dews however, has also been in great form, and has proven to have the speed to match anyone else on track, and he himself, will be looking to score well this weekend. Gerry Hendry and Frankie Cunningham have both had some good results this year, with Hendry winning the Scottish Open a couple of months ago. A hugely competitive field of drivers is at our disposal here in Scotland, with every point valuable in the quest for championship qualification.
The Junior Productions are the final formula in attendance, and the Junior’s have had a good season. A few drivers have moved on this season having reached the upper age limit, including James Slater, Keira Wotherspoon, Koddi Wright and Hollie Ritchie. This has opened up the field, and given the incentive to a number of other drivers to step up and be counted for – Aiden McKinnon is one such driver that has upped his game this season, and has found himself to be in the running on a regular basis as a result. Baillie Glencross, Aiden Duffy and Lewis Duffy are all progressing well, with the trio of drivers all scoring some great results throughout the year. Maia Thompson has done a fair amount of meetings, both at home, and in Northern Ireland, where she has excelled and seen her confidence increase, and she too, will be looking to be challenging for race wins. The Junior Productions are arguably one of the most dramatic, but exciting formula’s too watch here at Lochgelly Raceway, and we anticipate that the youngsters will put on another excellent showing this weekend..
The racing gets underway at 6pm this weekend, with spectator gates opening at 3.30pm. Driver sign in will open at 2.30pm.
