As we move into April, there is another exciting month of racing to look forward too, none moreso than our event on Saturday 4th April as we welcome five excellent formulas – a glimpse of the future generations and the drivers that are aiming for stardom now!
The open wheel Superstox formula race in the first of the RS Motors W+Y events of the season, and we are grateful to RS Motors for the contribution for this series. The Superstox have provided some excellent close, hard and competitive racing at each of our previous events this season. Bryan Forrest looks to be back to his best having taken a hat-trick of victories last time out. Aaron Riddell has always been there or thereabouts though, and the current National Points Champion will be looking to get back on that top step this weekend. Adam Low will certainly find himself in the mix as well – he has been quick, and isn’t afraid to get stuck in when it matters too. Kenny McKenzie is hopeful of making his first outing of the season, whilst Dylan Anderson, Jordan Black and the rest of the field will be looking to put daylight between themselves and the chasing pack as quickly as possible.
The Ninja Karts never fail to disappoint with close racing and lots hair-raising moments as the youngsters excellently navigate there way in and out of the passing traffic. A number of visiting drivers are set to make an outing this weekend, with around 25 karts expected to be in attendance. Jayden Jeffrey and Ryan Love were both in good form last weekend and will be looking to carry that on come Saturday evening. A few of the visiting drivers are no strangers around Lochgelly Raceway and will be in contention for race wins throughout the night, whilst others, will be looking to get some good track time ahead of the Scrapco Metal Recycling World Championship in June.
The 2.0 Hot Rods always provide very fast close racing – the non-contact class is capable of producing some of the best racing around Lochgelly Raceway as the drivers use skill and determination to try and overcome the opposition without forcing them out of the way as is permitted in some other formula. It’s a risk and reward balance – make it work and you are rewarded with an excellent overtake, or fall short, and you can find yourself dropping back the order as you get stuck on the outside line. Charlie Hardie has been the one to beat so far in 2026, but Mark Dews and Allan Gibson have both shown great pace and have looked every bit as quick as the number 7 car. A couple of visiting drivers will add an extra dimension this weekend, and we should so some great racing.
The ORCi Ministox race in the first of the GA Autos Events of the season – with a couple of visiting drivers joining us. The Ironed up junior class has seen numbers drop away over the last couple of years, but, the racing has generally always still been exciting, fearless and eventful. Shaun Boyle, Stuart Shevill and Jayden Roff will be looking to score well, whilst a host of other drivers will be looking to take away a good haul of points too. Jamie Balfour has started the season off in a confident manner, and will be looking for some more good results on Saturday.
Finally, the 1600 Bangers take to the track for the second time this season – the drivers are racing as they look to secure a spot in the 1600 World Final at Ipswich later in the season, whilst there are a few drivers out on track that look to throw a spanner in the works with hard hitting action hoped for from the 1600 class.
We hope that you enjoy your visit with us at HRP Lochgelly Raceway. Pick up a fixture list at the main reception to see what we have in store for the rest of the season.
