2026 May Speed Weekend 2026 May Speed Weekend
The National Hot Rods are the headline attraction as the pinnacle of non-contact oval racing and they are set to contest their first ever Super Round as well – an all new qualifying event for 2026 as major championship meetings. HRP Lochgelly Raceway are set to be the first to stage this, and as such are the ‘crash test dummies’ in that respect, but we are sure it will be an event to watch with graded races throughout the Sunday afternoon with drivers from all nations chasing the points! Rolling back to the Saturday night and it will be the David Philp Commercials National Hot Rod European Championship that takes centre stage – Three qualifying heats as drawn ‘out the hat’, with the points tallied up to give the European Championship grid. Robert McDonald is chasing his third European Championship, but he has never yet retained the title, and given that he won it in 2025, he’ll need to break that trend to do so. 2024 European Champion Adam Maxwell is set to be with us again having missed out last year due to other commitments, meaning he was unable to defend his title. We’ve no doubt that Adam will be hoping for a wet meeting given how well he always seems to perform at Lochgelly in such conditions!! The grid is littered with contenders though – Ross McWilliams, Gordon Alexander, Perry Cooke, Derek Martin, Billy Wood have all found themselves there or thereabouts in years gone by..

The 1400 Stock Cars are set to battle it out for their European Championship – Curtis ‘Tebbz’ Tebbenham is the reigning champion, but at the time of writing, isn’t currently booked in to defend his title which could open the door for a new champion to be crowned. The 1400s will contest in qualifying heats on the Saturday night before racing for the big race on the Sunday afternoon. A Scottish Open and Dash For Cash will follow afterwards to complete the weekend for the formula as we look set to see around 40 cars in action over the two days.

The 2.0 Hot Rods battle it out for their Spedeworth TV European Championship and there are plenty of young drivers on the grid these days – Charlie Homewood Burrows and Charlie Hardie two of such youngsters that have taken to the formula excellently. World Champion Jason Secker will be looking to claim the European Championship but will face stern competition from an array of Northern Irish drivers all looking for glory, as well as a number of excellent mainland drivers! Three qualifying heats will see the grid determined for the 2.0s, with the main race taking place on Sunday afternoon.

The Stock Rods contest both days as support, with two meetings being held and the Sunday being the Lochgelly Masters – currently held by Dean McGill. McGill has moved to the 1400 Stock Car formula though, so we will see a new champion crowned. We are expecting a few visiting drivers too as they look to get some track time in ahead of the World Final in September, whilst also supporting an excellent race meeting.

The Classic Hot Rods are the final formula in attendance – subject to car numbers, as they race for the Scottish Open Championship and Malcolm Chesher Memorial events over the two days.

We hope that you enjoy your visit with us at HRP Lochgelly Raceway over the course of the weekend. Pick up a fixture list at the main reception to see what we have in store for the rest of the season.

A reminder, we have 50 50 TICKETS AVAILABLE FROM THE MAIN RECEPTION FOR JUST £1 PER STRIP, WITH HALF THE TAKINGS GOING TO THE WINNER.

A reminder, motorsport can be dangerous. Please stay clear of the catch fence during racing, be observant throughout the event and keep all children accompanied at all times.
