The 1600 Rookie Banger Scottish Championship takes place on Saturday 5th August, and it looks set to be an enteraining evening of racing, as Korben Quinn looks to defend the title he won in 2022. The 1600 Rookie formula is a formula that is massive in England, with a number of Scottish drivers keen to get involved in the formula. The Scottish Championship has previously seen names like Lee Kingsnorth and Craig Royal reign victorious, but no driver has recently been able to retain the title.

With around 40 bangers booked to race, it promises to be an action packed night of racing. In addition to the Scottish Championship, there will be an entertainer award for the most entertaining or never give up driver on the night, with a good cash pot available for the end of evening demolition derby!! The Scottish Championship race itself will be out the hat, with the exception of pole position, with Ryan Martin winning an earlier event to claim that berth, and any gaps in the grid will be filled by pulling the relevant inside or outside line forward. Drivers will be permitted to turn around on the corners from outside-in only.

Please note, the Junior Productions have replaced the 2.0 Hot Rods at this fixture.

The 1300 Stock Cars join in on the action, and the bumper brigade always put on a show. Fraser Clark and Danny Whyte have both been in great form of late, and will be hoping to continue that form with the Scottish Championship just one month away. Blair Robertson has shown improvement and will be hoping to continue that trend as he looks to make up ground on those further up the points chart than himself. Charlie Henry was the sole Scottish representative in Northern Ireland last week as she raced for the National Championship. Without too much success, she did her credentials no harm, and represented Scotland excellently. She’ll be back on home tar this weekend as well, and will be looking for a bit of luck as she aims to get back to winning ways. Sam Cavanagh is again with us and will be looking to build on an impressive debut last time out.

The CC Rods are with us for the second week in succession, and with some great racing last weekend, we are expecting another great nights racing from the non-contact formula. Steven Adair, Brian Allen and Ian Christie took victories last weekend, and have put down the gauntlet to the rest of the pack to challenge for race wins on Saturday. Natalie Mason will move up to yellow grade this weekend following an impressive few meetings that has seen her form improve dramatically. Mason herself will be seeking victory and with a little bit of good fortune along the way, she is more than capable of doing so. Lee Scott continues to battle it out for the top spot in the points championship, with Gary Nicholls having shown great form so far throughout the season. Scottish Champion, Kevin Hutchison had a nightmare meeting last weekend, where his car was plagued with issues, which he will be hoping to have sorted for Saturday night.

The Junior Productions, as previously mentioned, are a late addition to the programme as they replace the 2.0 Hot Rods, who had multiple drivers unable to attend. The Juniors were rewarded with the spot having provided some great racing throughout the course of the season so far. Connor St Aubyn and Kaitlyn Smart showed off their cars at the recent Cowdenbeath Gala, and both drivers will be looking to show off their skills on track on Saturday night, with both hoping for a bit of luck and find themselves racing for the podium positions. Koddi Wright and James Slater are both nearing the end of their Junior Production careers, with both drivers set to retire before the end of the season – infact, Slater would have already raced his last race in the formula had it not been for this meeting being added, with the youngster turning 16 later this month. With a few drivers unable to attend, it will open up the door for a number of other drivers to stake a claim for glory, and give some confidence boosting results to a number of others as well. Lewis Dickson, Callahan Bremner and Aiden McKinnon have all been in good form of late as well, though with new grades in effect, it should mix up the results a little bit more!!

Driver sign in will open at 2pm, and spectator gates open at 3pm.. The 1600 bangers will draw their grid position upon signing in - any driver not booked in will be required to start from the back of the grid.

Banger drivers are requested to come to scrutineering with their bonnet off the car, with scrutineering opening at 2pm.
