Van Banger Scottish Championship 2023 Van Banger Scottish Championship 2023
The season is fast nearing it’s conclusion, and this Saturday is the first of two excellent meetings to round off the season.

The Van Banger Scottish Championship is the main attraction, which is set to be defended by 244 Zak Murdoch. Mudoch is a regular in the Van Banger class, and is usually quick, and one to entertain. Back in July, both he and daughter Michelle to the track and put on an excellent showing much to the delight of the crowd in attendance that night. Jamie Sangster is set to make the trip south to be with us, as he eyes a place in the 2024 World Championship through the HRP National Points. Youngster, James Slater is set to make his first outing in anything bigger than a Micro Banger, and he’ll be looking to have a blast, and survive til the end of the meeting. Barry Innes will be kept busy on the night, with him racing the van banger, and his daughter, out in the Junior Productions as well. It has been a couple of years since Barry last raced, but we have no doubt he’ll be hoping to enjoy the occasion. Paul Barron is set to make an outing as well and he isn’t shy in doing his utmost to entertain. Darren and Dayle Linton are both set to join us from Team Joker, whilst we also expect a couple of more to show up on the night. The Scottish Championship will be the first race of the night for the Vans, with another race and a Demolition Derby scheduled with the last van running declared as the winner!

The Superstox will be racing for the final time this season, with their first race set to be a 10 lap dash for cash event – with £10 going to the race leader on every lap, with the eventual winner taking away the prize fund. Three further races will take place for the Superstox formula. Dean Johnston will be hoping to wrap up the track points championship, whilst Colin Din and Craig Mason are both separated by few points in the battle for Novice of the Year. Scottish Champion Ciaran Adams is set to join us once more as he shows off the Saltire.

The Junior Productions have had another excellent season, with strong car numbers throughout the year. The racing has always been competitive, with lots of race winners over the season, lots of drivers have moved up through the grades, and this years novices, have all increased tenfold as the season has progressed. It is tight at the top of the points charts, with Koddi Wright still hanging on at the top, despite having retired from the formula now – Aiden McKinnon and William Plenderleith are both within striking distance though, as we go into the last meeting. The non-contact formula will have around 20 cars taking to the track as they end the season on a high.

The National Hot Rods are the final formula in attendance, with Alan Kirkaldy set to join us once more after an excellent debut last time out. Darren Scott is set to make the trip south to be with us, having missed out last time. Gordon Alexander, William Hardie and Ross McWilliam will all be hoping to score well as we complete the first half of the campaign for the National Hot Rods. Alex Wilson missed out due to personal reasons last time out, and will be hoping to be back on track this weekend.

Don’t forget, we will have fireworks during the event for those attending – we don’t recommend bringing pets along, but if you do, please ensure they are comfortable in the environment.

Spectator gates will open at 2.30pm, with driver sign in opening at 2.00pm. The first race gets underway at 5.00pm.
