It’s the final Friday night event of the Stock Car season at Lochgelly Raceway, with the season nearing its conclusion.
It will be a fast and furious night of racing, with 3 excellent formula taking to the track with something up for grabs in all three!
The 1300 Stock Cars will be racing for the Mr Gunn Trophy, with the event once more seeing some generous sponsorship from the Mr Gunn family and friends. With around 25 cars booked to race at the time of writing, and a number or Northern Irish drivers set to be with us, we could see almost 30 cars taking to the track come Friday night with non-stop on track action guaranteed from the formula. Come rain, sun or hail, the 1300 Stock Cars never disappoint and the bumpers will be used throughout the night, with the sound of We Will Rock You ringing out as the drivers complete their rolling laps! The Gunn family would like to extend their thanks to HRP for hosting the event, and to those that support the event through donations of sponsorship – Taxi Centre (01333 300 300), Ringtone Racepaints, Mirror Mirror Salon (Lochore) + Carol & Ian Goodall. As is always the case, we are sure the drivers will put on an excellent showing with the Gunn family heavily respected through stock car families throughout the decades, with every driver wanting to win the event!
The Ministox are back with us following on from their excellent British Championship event a couple of weeks ago and once more, will see 20+ cars take to the track as they near the conclusion of their 2023 season. The formula has provided a lot of highs this year, with excellent, competitive and action packed racing throughout the year. There has been lots of deserving race winners, there has been lots of drivers showing great improvement, and this has allowed for some truly unpredictable races. We have no doubt that Friday night will be much the same, with the youngsters once more looking to put on a show. The ORCi Champion, British Champion and Irish Open Champion are all booked to race, and we may yet see the Scottish Champion adding his name to the list too before the weekend! The meeting final will see a tyre up for grabs courtesy of WMH Developments.
The CC Rods have had a steady season once more, with the formula continuing to produce some excellent races, with car numbers fluctuating on a meeting by meeting basis! A number of drivers have moved on from the formula, and are now competing competitively elsewhere, however, their remains a strong base of drivers in the class, with some excellent non-contact racing witnessed throughout the season, with much of the drivers having a lot of respect for each other. Ian Christie, Lee Scott, Kevin Hutchison et al have all battled at the top end of the points throughout the year, whilst their will be a first outing for the Scottish Champion, Alec Cunningham, since he won the title over a month ago. We welcome Specialist Roofing as the sponsor for this event, and are grateful for their continued support of the CC Rod formula.
The racing gets underway at 7pm, with spectator gates opening at 5.30pm. The drivers sign in office will open at 5pm.
