The penultimate event of the season has now been and gone, and it was a lively event, with great racing in front of a large crowd.

Many were along to witness the Van Banger Scottish Championship event, with 11 vans participating and putting on a show throughout the night. Vans in all shapes and sizes wowed the crowd, with Paul Barron reigning successful in the Scottish Championship race – getting away well and keeping out of trouble for the duration. With the big race done for, the first heat of the night seen the drivers set about hitting as much as they can with only 4 vans completing race distance. Chris Watson only picked up his van on the Saturday morning – complete with Tax and an MOT, and took it all the way in the DD to pick up a win, shared with Darren Linton with both vans giving up after a head on between the pair!

The Junior Productions completed their season, with just under 20 cars participating. The youngsters have had an excellent season, and it all came down to the final event to determine the points winner! Dale Sutherland found himself back down to white grade, albeit, this wouldn’t last long as he went on to win both heats which found himself promoted back up to yellow! Kaitlyn Smart had her best meeting of the season, and she’ll be looking to take that confidence into 2024, as she took away a couple of 2nd place finishes for her efforts. Liam Loggie was another driver that was in good form, showing great pace throughout the evening, and was unfortunate not to take away a couple of wins for his efforts. The youngsters drove excellently throughout the night, with very little incidents, and a great showing to end the season. There would be no stopping Aiden McKinnon though, as he claimed a 1st, 2nd and 3rd on the night, that would see him move to the top of the points charts, on the final meeting of the season to become the 2023 points champion for the Junior Production class.

The Superstox started their evening off with a dash for cash, with the leader of each lap getting a prize, as well as the overall race winner. Dean Johnston set about things quickly, and within a few laps, he found himself at the front and never looked back, despite the best efforts of Ciaran Adams in the closing stages chasing him down. Johnston would go on to take race wins in the further two heats, before retiring in the final following car issues. Ciaran Adams took full advantage to claim the race win in the meeting final, to round off an excellent season for the 128 driver. Paul Mackie hasn’t had much in the way of luck throughout the year, but he took away a third place finish in the meeting final, in a race where the lower graded drivers held there own for much of the way, with Dom Currie and Connor Mason both scoring good results as well.

The National Hot Rods completed their 2023 year, with wet night of racing – Alan Kirkaldy taking victory in both heats, before Gordon Alexander took the win in the meeting final.

We are back this Saturday, with pre-meeting charity experiences getting underway from 2pm, with the main event starting at 4pm.
