In what was a bright and sunny start to the evening, it soon turned gloomy with a quick descending layer of fog around the race which ultimately resulted in the abandonment of the meeting with a few races remaining.
Before that however, there was some great racing across the formula. The Ninja Karts were racing for their annual JusBounce shield which is awarded to the top point scorer on the night rather than any specific race winner. The youngsters welcomed a few visiting drivers – William Myatt, Jaxon Cairns, Riley Stagg & Parker Smith. Teddy Hunn also made his debut in the class. Teddy looked to have good pace throughout the evening with some good lap times and some good overtakes during the night, though, a lack of on track experience seen him drop back once the ‘pack’ caught up. Rayah Burns who is in her final year of racing the Ninja Kart formula has been in good form this year, producing numerous good results along the way and Saturday was no different as she showed great consistency on the night. Heat wins went the way of Scottish Champion, Rory Wilson, finishing ahead of Rayah in both heats. The meeting final seen a number of karts spin early on, with Rory Wilson tagging one of the spun karts and spinning himself in the process. The karts all managed to get away without the need for a race stoppage, resulting in a large field spread from 1st to last. It would be Parker Smith that came away with the victory in the meeting final, ahead of Alfie Shevill and Jayden Jeffrey. Burns finishing fourth, and Wilson finishing 9th, seen Burns finish as top point scorer and take the JusBounce Shield.
The Stock Rods were down a few drivers with holidays and other events resulting in non-appearances. However, Dean Heeps made his debut in the class having just turned 16 in the week. Lennon Grant made a return to action having not been out since blowing up after a race win on his last appearance a few month’s ago. Lennon got off to the best possible start as he raced to a victory in the opening heat, overcoming Dean Heeps around the mid-way stage of the race, with Heeps finishing in 2nd ahead of Teri Linden. Heat 2 seen the front two reverse positions, with Heeps taking victory ahead of Grant, with John Lee Green finishing in 3rd. The meeting final seen the two youngsters start at the front of the final grid, with Heeps on pole with Grant alongside. Both fell back in the early stages though as the pack rushed through. Gary Dean and European Champion Robbie Armit soon moved to the front having overcame early race leader Koddi Wright. Sean Naismith made good progress through the field having started near the rear end of the grid in the final, and was soon into the top places. Robbie Armit moved to the lead of the race in the closing laps with Gary Dean dropping back. Armit would go on to take the flag, with Naismith and Linden finishing in 2nd and 3rd, with Gary Dean 4th and Koddi Wright 5th.
The ProStocks seen some great racing with 20 cars taking to the track on the night. There were debuts for Abbie Whyte and Denver Ross, whilst Greig Clarke also made his first Lochgelly appearance of the season. Hollie Ritchie who turned 17 this week, was in the thick of the action and seen a few hits given and received throughout the night. Rachel Kidd took yet another race win in the opening heat of the night, with Lewis Gilchrist and Dean McGill completing the top three. Heat 2 seen McGill take the win ahead of Gilchrist, with Paul Barron coming home in third.
The Superstox seen a good turnout of cars, with a couple of drivers also missing too – Dylan Anderson made his debut having recently acquired the ex Jordan Black HCD. Despite a misfire, he managed to get a few point on the board at the first time of asking. Aaron Riddell and Adam Low had some good races, with a few blows between the pair and a nice dent in the front bumper of Adam Low as a result! Josh Duff was cursing his luck in the opening heat as he found a race lead diminish following a yellow flag to recover the stricken Campbell Scott and David Lumsden cars. Duff was duly moved out the way by Riddell and Low behind, though did hang on for a third place finish. Heat 2 seen Riddell take another race win ahead of Low, with Benjamin Erskine finishing third.
The National Hot Rods were the final formula in attendance. Gordon Alexander seen his night cut short after a catastrophic failure during practice. Ross McWilliam raced to a race win both races. Heat 1 seen James Robertson and Darren Scott take 2nd and 3rd, whilst heat 2 seen Ethan Doull and James Robertson take the places behind McWilliam.
