Micro Bangers Entertain
The Micro Bangers made their season debut on Saturday 29th March at HRP Lochgelly Raceway, and were out in good numbers, and providing an action packed and entertaining night of racing, on what was a very wet and miserable night.

The Micro Bangers were looking to claim a place in the 2025 Micro Banger World Cup, with a wildcard entry up for grabs on the night. Just under 20 cars took to the track to provide the entertainment, and the drivers were eager to put on a show. Each of the three races seen rollovers, with the biggest and most spectacular coming on the back of a follow in from Brian Youngson. This seen both cars roll over as a result of the impact in the final race of the night. Tam Melrose took the victory in the opening heat, before Ben Germany claimed victory in heat 2, with Melrose once more claiming victory in the meeting final, and Demolition derby. Melrose was given the win in the DD despite not being the last car moving, with it being deemed that the other competitors still moving, had pulled off track at the beginning of the DD. Melrose would close the night as the top point scorer, securing his place in the World Cup in October! Brian Youngson leads the new for 2025 entertainers league!

The U-Pull-It 1300 Stock Cars welcome Inter-Nations Cup winner, Danny Whyte back into the formula, as he borrowed World Champion, Darren Raes 1300 Stock Car, whilst Darren, borrowed the car of Connor Jones. Three different winners on the night seen the formula prove competitive in the rain, with the stars struggling to make headway into the lead of the lower graded drivers. Jamie Stewart, did manage to secure a win in the opening heat ahead of Fraser Clark and Darren Rae. Heat 2 would see Ryan Muirhead take his first win of the season in what was up there as one of his best meetings in the formula to date. Kai McNulty continued his strong start to the season with a win in the meeting final, with Jamie Stewart and Callum Sturrock completing the top three.

The youngsters in the Junior Productions formula provided great close racing throughout the night, with the challenging conditions adding an extra dimension to the racing. It was a memorable night for the lower graded drivers – Nicole Innes claiming her first win in the formula, whilst Caden Wotherspoon and Candice Smart also claimed victories on the night! All three of the drivers have started the 2025 season strongly, and will move up the grades in April as they find themselves at the sharp end of the points championship. Marley Montgomery often goes well in the rain, and did so once more on Saturday night, picking up some great results, including a 2nd place finish in the meeting final. The more established drivers had a difficult night – with Dickson, Plenderleith and Aiden Duffy getting tangled up throughout the night, with Dickson making a rash decision in the meeting final that seen him removed from the result, whilst Plenderleith let his emotions get the better of him at the end of the race too!

The Stock Rods once more were in action, and provided more great racing in less than ideal conditions – the formula has had a busy start to the year, though, will have a well earned break over the next few weeks before they return in the lead up to the Spedeworth TV British Championship here in May. The wet weather certainly leveled out the field, with the likes of Sean Naismith, Gary Dean, Robbie Armit and Dean McGill struggling to make progress through the field in each of the three races. The lower grade drivers were in great form once more – Teri Linden has been in great form so far this year, as she leads the way in the track points championship at this early stage of the season, whilst Fraser Anderson and Craig Harrison have both also found good pace. Anderson took the victory in the opening heat in fact, finishing ahead of Lee McGill and Aiden McKinnon. Lee McGill made the switch back to his old car, having found his new car less suited to his style of driving in recent weeks. Teri Linden would go onto take a heat and final double, with Anderson finishing in second place in each of these two races too, with Kyle Hutchison proving to be best of the rest on Saturday with two third place finishes.

The CC Rod formula were down in numbers in comparison to their first outing of the season, with a few drivers having other commitments. Garry Roberts would have been happy with his nights racing in the early stages of the meeting, as he took a third place finish in the opening heat, though, this didn’t last into the remaining races, with Roberts struggling in heat 2, before a coming together with John Gorman in the meeting final seen his car come away somewhat worse for wear. James Dickie was on hand to make the most of the lower grids of cars, as he raced to victory in both of the heats, despite being challenged by Lee Scott in heat 2. The meeting final was a close race, with Dickie, Kenny Pitcaithly and Lee Scott never far away from each other for the most part of the race. Lee Scott would eventually take the race win but it wasn’t plain sailing as he was made to work hard to overcome James Dickie with Pitcaithly in close contention looking to pick up the pieces. Ian Donaldson made a charge from the rear of the grid, after failing to finish either of the heats to finish a respectable fourth place.

We are back in action on Saturday 5th April, with the National Hot Rods, U-Pull-It 1300 Stock Cars, 2.0 Hot Rods, ProStocks and ORCi Ministox in action, with the racing getting underway at 5.30pm.
