Saturday night at Lochgelly Raceway was another night of close, competitive and very fast racing. A dry track throughout the night seen excellent conditions for fast, close and competitive racing for the five formula that were in action.

The U-Pull-It 1300 Stock Cars were out once more, this time racing in round 1 of the SP Utilities series. The racing was excellent throughout the night, with very little between much of the drivers, allowing for hard hitting, end to end action. Craig Haxton made his first outing of the season, and took a maiden win in the opening heat, whilst Connor Jones took his first win in the formula in the second heat, whilst Scottish Champion Jamie Stewart took the victory in the meeting final, having been able to break clear of the other star graded drivers. The meeting final was arguably the race of the night, with 5-6 drivers trading blows, trading places and delivering superb racing from start to finish. A number of race cautions added into the mix, as the drivers had to deal with the pack closing up a few times throughout the race!

The Rookie Bangers were out for the first time this season, with a mix of local drivers, and southern based drivers making up the grid of around 15 cars. Scottish Champion Dan Croskell took the win in the opening heat, before HRP Points Champion, Gavin Taylor took the victory in heat 2. Ryan Martin would be awarded the win in the meeting final following a review, with Taylor jumping the start on one of the restarts during the race and subsequently docked. The DD seen several drivers participate, Dan Croskell being one who tried to get involved, though, a damaged car limited his ability. Dylan Ward would be deemed the last car running, though, a hit after the red flags would see the win taken away and awarded to Ryan Martin. Ward would though, come away with the entertainer points, having stuck the bumper in on several occasions to good effect throughout the course of the meeting.

The Junior Productions were out in force once more, with Layton Cairns making his debut in the class, switching from the Ninja Kart formula. The youngsters produced excellent racing throughout the night, with good clean racing witnessed in all races. With 20+ cars on track, it was difficult for the star graded drivers to make headway and catch some of the very quick lower graded drivers. Caden Wotherspoon took the win in the opening heat, before Lee Moore took a heat and final double that will see him moved up a grade, having overcame Candice Smart in the closing stages of the race. Moore took away a couple of tyres for his efforts too, courtesy of GNR Signs.

The CC Rods were in action in R1 of their AC Roads and Driveways British Championship series, and with just under 20 cars on track, it was set to be a great start to the season for the formula. Heat 1 though, seen a few cars leave worse for wear after a bit of a pile up, and only 6 cars completing the race distance! Baillie Glencross took the win in the opening heat, whilst James Dickie crossed the line first in heat 2, before Gregor Whyte took victory in the meeting final.

The 2.0 Hot Rods were the final formula in attendance – with Jack MacLeod making his debut having made the switch from 2.0 Hot Rods. Andy Best and Jason Secker joined us, whilst Mark Dews had issues pre-meeting and would not take the green flag in any of the races. MacLeod took a heat and final double, which will immediately see him moved upto yellow grade, whilst Scottish Champion Keith Brown took the win in the further heat.

We are back in action this Saturday at Lochgelly Raceway, starting at 5.30pm. The Superstox, National Hot Rods, Stock Rods, 2.0 Hot Rods and Scrapco Metal Recycling Ninja Karts take to the track.
