Doubles all Round
It was another fast and furious night of stock car racing on Saturday at HRP Lochgelly Raceway, as five formula took to the track to provide the on track entertainment. It was a night of doubles, with five drivers winning two races on Saturday night!

The Scrapco Metal Recycling Ninja Karts started off the event with their whites and yellows race – a race intended to give the less confident, less experienced drivers an opportunity to shine – build their confidence, and learn racecraft without having a full pack of karts chasing them down. Rudi Arcari, a newcomer into the formula at the start of the season looked to be in with a shout of a race win, having led the majority of the race despite pressure from Harley Wilson behind. However, in the closing stages of the race, Rudi would find himself get stuck with another kart, allowing Wilson and Alfie MacLeod through, with Rudi rejoining in third place. There would be no further change to the order, as Wilson took his first win in the formula ahead of MacLeod and Arcari. Heat 1 was another close race for the youngsters, though, a yellow was called for with Alfie MacLeod stuck on track. A race caution bunched up the pack, and seen the star graded drivers close in on Harley Wilson upfront. Soon after the restart, Harley dropped back the order, with Rory Wilson racing clear of the pack, whilst Jayden Jeffrey, Christopher Lattka, Henry Hunn and Ryan Love all battled closely behind. A coming together between Love and Lattka seen Lattka spin out and drop down the order. Wilson took the win ahead of Jayden Lee and Ryan Love. Heat two once more seen very competitive racing amongst the youngsters. Alfie MacLeod was having a night to forget at this stage, as he lost his roof midway through the race resulting in a yellow flag caution and another retirement for the 666 kart. Harley Wilson was having another excellent race as he led the race once more, only being overcome by his brother Rory in the closing stages, with Lattka claiming third place. The meeting final seen the Wilson brother clash as they battled for 2nd place in the race with Jeffrey running away up front – Harley Wilson led Rory at this stage, and Rory tried to find a way past and went to the outside, however, the gap soon narrowed, which seen Rory hit the wall and spin around, resulting in a stricken kart across the home straight and a yellow flag as a result. Upon the restart, Alfie Shevill made a flier of a start and gained a few places early on. Jayden Jeffrey once more moved clear in the lead with Harley Wilson getting stuck on the outside and dropping back a few places a few laps later. Henry Hunn and Christopher Lattka would complete the top three.

The CC Rods raced in round 2 of the AC Roads and Driveways British Championship series, and with a few drivers missing, there was plenty of points on offer for those in attendance. Ian Donaldson was in great form as he raced to a heat and final double – which will see him move back upto red grade. Robert Conway had a steady night, picking up good results in each of the three races, pushing himself to the top of the AC Roads and Driveways leader board with 2 remaining. Craig Mason was back on form after a disappointing outing last time out, as he took a win in heat 2, followed up by a further podium in the meeting final. A rollover for Bryan Thomson in the meeting final seen us remembering the days of the ramp rollovers as his car became fully airbourne and up and over, after collecting the Baillie Glencross car that was just starting to move away.

The Superstox formula race for their European Championship here at Lochgelly in June, and it is good to see so many of our drivers showing good pace in the run up to that event – Aaron Riddell has been the stand out performer, but he himself, hasn’t had it all his own way in recent meetings. Heat 1 on Saturday seen Dave Lumsden take a well deserved win – hanging onto a last bend lunge from Aaron Riddell to take the win ahead of Adam Low and Benjamine Erskine. Adam Low has shown great consistency, and has always been in amongst the top few places this season. Lumsden, looks to have gotten to grips with his new set of wheels, as he raced to yet another race victory in heat 2. Josh Duff was his closest challenger in that race, with Low once more finishing in the top 3 places. The meeting final seen it all come good for Aaron Riddell, as he took victory ahead of Low and Kenny McKenzie.

The Junior Productions were in action once more, and once more, seen a healthy field of cars take to the track. The racing was close throughout as the new grades seen drivers start a bit further back or further forward in a couple of cases. Mia Cross was arguably the driver of the meeting, having her best performance in the formula to date as she came away just 1 point shy of a maximum, following a heat and final double, and a runners up spot in heat 2. Mia will herself, now move back to the yellow grade for her next outing – but the performance will certainly have given her a well deserved confidence boost. Jayden Barrie has often found himself in the thick of the incidents in his junior production career so far, and he’d be delighted to have came away with little damage, and a good haul of points – the youngster raced excellently and overcame drivers with some good overtakes. A runners up spot in the opening heat and meeting final seen him come away with a couple of trophies. Billie-Summer Glen looked to have good pace throughout the night, racing determinedly and with desire. A race win in heat 2 was followed up with a good result in the final, finishing just outside the podium places. Callum Ritchie had a steady night too, and was perhaps a little too keen as he raced for the lead in the meeting final, having been deemed to use the bumper to move into the lead, which seen him penalized as a result, costing him the race win. Candice Smart, Nicole Innes and Caden Abernethy all coped well from their new grades.

The Rookie Bangers completed the line up, with Ryan Martin taking two wins, with Paul Barron claiming the other. Gav Taylor had a night to forget as he failed to start the first race, and seen his car suffer some irreparable damage in heat 2. Paul Barron and Dylan Ward both looked to get stuck in at times, with both drivers looking to use the bumper to maximum effect on several occasions throughout the night.

We are back in action on Saturday 19th April, with the National Hot Rods, CC Rods, ProStocks, ORCi Ministox and Superstox in attendance, with the racing getting underway at 5.30pm.
