It was another fantastic night of stock car action at HRP Lochgelly Raceway on Saturday 30th May. It had mixed weather conditions; close, fast and competitive racing; last lap drama; bumper to bumper action & last lap lunges!
The youngsters in the Ninja Karts started off the evening with their whites and yellows race – a fantastic opportunity for some of the less confident, less experienced drivers to get some track time and the chance to get a trophy without the pressure of the top drivers chasing them down. Lochie Heeps has taken to the Ninja Kart formula excellently having made his debut last weekend, and was right in amongst things on Saturday, starting his evening off with a 2nd place finish behind 42 Harley Wilson. Jayden Jeffrey took the win in the first heat of the night in damp conditions, with a fantastic battle in the closing stages of the race as the drivers diced for positions. Ryan Love, Alfie MacLeod, Blair Innes, George White, Christopher Lattka, Harley Wilson and Rory Wilson were all just metres apart as they crossed the line at the end of the race – with Innes coming through from 8th position on the last lap, to finish in 2nd just ahead of Ryan Love and Alfie MacLeod. Heat 2 would see another close race as the drivers battled to come through the field – A coming together midway through the race between Rory Wilson and Jayden Jeffrey would see the heat 1 winner spin out of contention. Lochie Heeps was a delighted race winner in this race, finishing ahead of European Champion George White, with Alfie Shevill in third. The meeting final seen a few karts clash as they raced through the bumps and very closely together throughout the race. Lochie Heeps took a further race win, again, much to his delight, whilst Jacob Green drove a brilliant race from the white grade too – crossing the line in fourth having sat in 2nd for long periods. Green would move back up to third, with a driver ahead of him being penalised for a coming together during the race. Rory Wilson took 2nd place, with Jacob Green taking the Lothian Property Services Driver of the Meeting award.
The Superstox have provided some excellent racing throughout the course of the 2026 season with the bumpers being put to good use with a number of excellent on track battles. The formula is set to see a few more cars on track in the coming months, with some drivers having a few delay’s to their seasons plans! Bryan Forrest has been back to his best this season and it has provided many excellent races with his fellow star graded drivers. Forrest drove to a commanding heat 1 victory on Saturday in damp, but drying conditions, finish ahead of Josh Duff and Aaron Riddell. Adam Low and Danny Whyte came to blows early in heat 1, with Low retiring from the race as a result of the coming together. Heat 2 looked like Josh Duff was going to take his first win in his home built car, however, with a few laps remaining he appeared to be slowing down and losing power – which seen him drop back and into retirement. Aaron Riddell took advantage to take the race win ahead of Bryan Forrest and Kenny McKenzie. The meeting final seen another fantastic race as Bryan Forrest and Aaron Riddell came through the pack – Forrest in front for the majority of the way, though, with Riddell in close contention for most of the time. Patience was the key as Riddell would know that if he didn’t strike at the correct time, Forrest would have no hesitation in coming back at him in the following laps. Riddell decided to stick, and Forrest seemed to see it coming, as he went into turn 3 on the last lap as he watched his mirror to see the 119 car closing in, making contact with him, and trying to get back on the power in a drag race to the line – However, Riddell had timed it to perfection with just enough of a hit, and crossed the line a mere 0.005 seconds ahead of Forrest in what was the closest finish of the night. Dave Lumsden had a steady night, as he took third place in the meeting final, enough to secure him as the top scoring white or yellow graded driver, and come away with a tyre courtesy of RS Motors.
The National Hot Rods closed out there 2025-26 campaign, with Gordon Alexander winning the series for the third year in a row. Charlie Hardie took the win in the opening heat in damp conditions. Barry Stephen found himself in a cloud of smoke in heat 2, with Alexander taking the win. Alexander took the win in the final, with Cameron Willacy finishing in 2nd.
The CC Rods once more provided some very good racing throughout the night – competitive and close, with some good performances from our lower graded drivers. Heat 1 seen a good race with the drivers showing respect throughout, as they provided very good non-contact racing. A coming together between Liam Conway and John Gorman in the early stages was the only coming together of note. John Downs took a dominant race win, finishing ahead of the hard charging Robert Conway. Heat 2 would see some drivers push things a little to far in respect of the rules of the formula, with Ian Donaldson being penalised for some contact involving Gregor Whyte. Downs went on to take another win in heat 2, with Steven Adair and Liam Conway completing the top 3. The meeting final was another great race from the formula as drivers battled side by side for long periods. Robert Conway made the outside line stick as he made some key overtakes to come through and take the win. Ian Donaldson finished 2nd, whilst Steven Adair completed the top 3.
The Stock Rod formula completed the line up, and once more, provided some superb racing. The formula has been consistently good in 2026 and is a must see formula here at Lochgelly as the drivers race bumper to bumper and door to door. Given the nature of the track and the competitive nature of the formula, dockings are almost a sure thing at every meeting as the drivers push themselves to the limit in order to succeed. The racing was once more dramatic and exciting on Saturday, with numerous drivers sitting in the top 3 places throughout the event. Robbie Armit found himself a bit eager at the start of the night, as he found himself penalised for jump start in the opening heat – which in turn, took away his chance of a hat-trick on the night. Armit crossed the line in first, though, would drop to third, with David Philp taking the win ahead of Stewart Paterson. Heat 2 seen Armit make amends as he took the win ahead of David Philp and David Crichton. The meeting final was another excellent race – Armit once more took the win, but it was Aiden McKinnon and Daniel Davidson that completed the top 3 on this occasion, after penalties were applied. McKinnon had arguably his best race of the season as he looked back to his best and put some reliability issues behind him.
A reminder, we are back in action on Friday 12th June at Lochgelly Raceway, with a 7pm start time.
Hardie Race Promotions would like to extend our gratitude to our 2026 season partners.
