Why Stock Car Racing?
It’s all I’ve ever known, since I was small I remember my family taking me to the tracks. It’s also how I met my wife.
Why People Should Attend Stock Car Racing Events?
Anyone who likes an adrenaline rush crossed with a soap opera is in for a treat. Every race is different with an ongoing back story that keeps everyone interested.
The Day Job & any other hobbies?
I own Robbie’s Garage in Arbroath and teach part time at Dundee and Angus college. That and working on the car doesn’t leave much time for anything else except family time with my wife Denise, son Robbie and our dogs.
Racing Facts & Insights
Career History
I started racing in 99/2000 racing ministox. Then moved on to brisca f2 in 2003/04 for a year. I had a few years out and came out in an outlaw hot rod for a few meetings and eventually returned to the tracks in 2017 in the 2.0 hot rod until 2022 and in 2025 I made yet another comeback in a stock rod.
What is involved in the run up to an event, and what emotions are involved
Race week usually involves around 10-12 hours on the car. Prepping tyres, checking every nut and bolt twice, checking setup, loading tool boxes and spares boxes etc
Memories of first race
Short lived race, around 6 laps in a mini around Cowdenbeath with no mirror and no brakes. Met an abrupt end against the turn 1 wall.
Career highs and lows
Winning the crimond points championship in the ministox in 2003, also winning the 2.0 hot rod lochgelly points championship in 2020 definitely were highlights. Not too many low points to mention.
Ambitions & would like to achieve
Have fun, keep out of trouble, make my family proud.
Alltime Favourite Driver
Gordon Alexander
Gordon Moodie
Robert McDonald
Tom Harris
All for different reasons but arguably all the best at their own discipline.
The Most Memorable Race Remembered?
There’s a few, 2017 open Scottish crossing the line second then docked for pushing the then world champ wide on the last corner.
My first win in the stock rod 24/10/2025 only a heat win but memorable to me for many personal reasons.
Thanks & Sponsors Shout Out
Thanks to everyone who has helped over the many years, from sponsors to hands on help, it is always appreciated. Notably my dad and Anais, my long suffering wife Denise and my son Robbie. Also to every single competitor who I’ve shared a track with, I may not always show it but the respect I have for anyone who ventures through the gate is real.
