Saturday 11th May at Lochgelly Raceway.
We welcome the U Pull It 1300 Stock Cars, National Hot Rods, ProStocks and 2.0 Hot Rods at this event – a perfect balance of non-contact and contact race formula, providing something for everyone to keep you entertained throughout the evening. Watch the racing just metres from the track, feel the wind as the cars race by, or feel the earth shake beneath your feet as the cars clatter the fence.
The U Pull It 1300 Stock Cars have been in excellent form this season, with between 20 and 30 cars regularly in attendance. There has been lots of hard hitting, metal crunching action already in 2024, with a few drivers coming to blows on a number of occasions already, whilst other drivers have kept the head and raced emphatically to regular point scoring finishes. It has been a very competitive season to date, with little between many of the drivers and no single driver standing out above anyone else. This has resulted in seeing lots of different drivers challenging for the race wins and plenty of hard, fast and exciting stock car racing. Scottish Champion Fraser Clark has been the most consistent point scorer to date, as he finds himself topping the track championship chart.
The National Hot Rods compete in their 11th and penultimate round of their 2023-24 World Qualifying Campaign. It has been a mixed year for the formula, with numbers fluctuating throughout the campaign – however, the racing has always been a good watch. Very little separates many of the drivers participating, opening up the opportunity for some great close, edge of the seat racing as the cars power around the raceway at speeds of upto 70mph, bumper to bumper, and side by side. This Saturday, we can expect to see a couple of visitors join us – Kevin Gooding and Joey Palmer both currently booked to race in addition to our own Scottish series drivers.
The ProStocks have started the season excellently here at Lochgelly, averaging just under 20 cars at each of our outings so far this season. The nudge and spin class has provided a lot of great highlights this year, with action packed, tit for tat and end to end racing. The 1600cc class, dominated by Astras, has seen multiple race winners already this year, and we anticipate, that this Saturday, will be another hard fought, action packed night of racing for the formula, not to be missed!
The 2.0 Hot Rod class are the final formula in attendance this weekend. The 2.0s have provided some of the closest, most competitive racing that we have seen in recent times – with several drivers all very similar on pace all battling it out. Given the nature of the formula, cars often get close together with millimetres between them at times leaving absolutely no room for error. Mark Dews has taken a couple of final wins this year already, and if he is with us, he’ll be keen to add another, as final preparations are made before the 2.0 Hot Rod British Championship, here at Lochgelly over the 1st and 2nd of June!
The drivers sign in office will open at 2.30pm, whilst practice will get underway at 3.40pm. 50 50 TICKETS ARE AVAILABLE FROM THE MAIN RECEPTION FOR JUST £1 PER STRIP, WITH HALF THE TAKINGS GOING TO THE WINNER.Drivers are reminded that they are responsible for leaving a tidy pit area, utilizing the bins provided, or taking rubbish away with them. Any teams found to be leaving their pit area untidy, will be fined and possibly banned from attending race meetings. The spectator gates will open at 3.30pm, with trackside parking only available on a first come first served basis. High sided vehicles are requested to park on the upper level, and the far end of the middle level, so not to obstruct views of those behind them.
