After our excellent season opener last weekend, we are back to it on Saturday 7th March as we see the Van Bangers take centre stage as they race for the 2026 Shaun Walsh Memorial Shield which also doubles up as round 1 in the Dhoom Indian Streatery Cash Chaser Series.
The Van Bangers are out in force with 20+ drivers currently booked to attend, which will bring a huge amount of on track action, carnage, thrills and spills. Zak Murdoch is the defending Shaun Walsh Memorial winner and he’ll be looking to become the first driver to win the event in successive years. Barry Jarman is a previous winner and he’ll be looking to win it once more, whilst the likes of Kai McNulty, Paul Barron and Iain Tait will all be looking to claim victory. The event will finish with a demolition derby, in which points are allocated for active participation.
The Ninja Karts provided some excellent, nail biting racing in 2025 and we anticipate another strong year for the youngsters. A few new drivers are set to join the ranks in the next few meetings, and this weekend we welcome a few visiting drivers from over the water. Eddie Fowler and Jaxon Cairns join us from DMC, whilst World Champion Dillon Murphy and Tading Coonan join us from Tipperary. A little closer to home we will see a number of drivers in some new machinery – Ryan Love and Alfie Shevill are two such drivers that we are aware of that should be racing in new karts. Henry Hunn, Christopher Lattka, Rory Wilson and Blair Innes will all be hoping to hit the ground running, but with a number of last years newcomers now finding their feet, catching some of the less experienced drivers may take some doing.
The 2.0 Hot Rods are one of the formula that are capable of producing scintillating racing with a lot of drivers of similar speeds – The skill in making an overtake or being brave enough to stick it around the outside is always admired. There are no margins for error. Mark Dews was in fine form towards the end of 2025 and will be hoping to carry that into 2026 as he looks to get his year off to the best possible start. Charle Hardie was the driver to beat last season, and he’ll be focused on ensuring that remains the case in 2026 as he looks to chase further silverware in the formula. Allan Gibson is never one to be discounted – the 196 car on it’s day, is as quick and competitive as anyone on track, and could take some beating. Olivia Krzyzanowska grew in confidence throughout last season and she’ll be hoping to continue that improvement this year, as she looks to chase some strong results. We welcome Northern Ireland visitor Ryan McClure with us as he looks to get some valuable track time ahead of the European Championship in May.
The Junior Productions were arguably one of the most watchable formula in 2025 with good car numbers, competitive racing and lots of different race winners throughout the season. A few of the more experienced drivers have now moved on from the formula, opening the door for others to step up and be recognised. There are a few newcomers into the class that are set to make their debut’s this weekend – Tamia Aitken, Scott Thomson and Jayden McKie are three such drivers. They will be looking for valuable track time, and gain some further experience in competitive field of cars. It could be a brilliant year for the formula with plenty of close and exciting racing to look forward too – we really do not know who will be the driver to stand up and say ‘catch me if you can’ this year! The season starts off for the formula in round 1 of the AG Motors Series.
The Superstox complete the line up this weekend, and with a few drivers still not quite ready, it is a perfect opportunity for the rest to get some good points on the board, and start gearing up towards a World Championship push in September. The open wheel formula is capable of producing exciting racing, with drivers permitted to use the bumper to dispose of the opposition around them. We welcome Callum Kelman from south of the border this weekend as he looks to get some track time at Lochgelly Raceway.
We hope that you enjoy your visit with us at HRP Lochgelly Raceway. Pick up a fixture list at the main reception to see what we have in store for the rest of the season.
