2025 Season Opener 2025 Season Opener 2025 Season Opener
Welcome back to Lochgelly Raceway, 2025!
We are excited to get the 2025 season underway after what feels like a long winter, and what better way to get things going than the Van Bangers 2025 Shaun Walsh Memorial event. The Van Bangers never fail to disappoint, whether there is 10 vans or 20+ vans! Alongside the Van Bangers, we have the U-Pull-It 1300 Stock Cars, Stock Rods APEX Garden Buildings Series R1, Junior Productions and Scrapco Metal Recycling Ninja Karts, with the racing getting underway at 5.15pm.

The Van Bangers should see around 15 vans in attendance, enough to provide excitement, drama, and plenty of on track carnage throughout the event. 2024 Shaun Walsh Memorial winner, Barry Jarman is expected to be in attendance as he looks to win it for the second year running, whilst other previous winners, Zak Murdoch and Chris Thomson are also expected to be in action – Can one of the trio of previous winners come out on top once more, or will it be a another driver this year? Paul Barron, James Slater and Ciaran Adams are all household names that are set to be on track too. The evening will finish off with a demolition derby, where the last van running will be crowned the winner!

The U-Pull-It 1300 Stock Cars kick off the season at our opening event – the ironed up hatchback’s are never short of entertainment, with the formula serving up some of the best racing on the ovals over the last few years. World Champion Darren Rae heads the line up, as he looks to push on and add more silverware to his roster this season. Scottish Champion Jamie Stewart isn’t yet booked in (at time of writing), though, we expect him to be in attendance as he chases the National Points Championship. Connor Jones is set to be out in his new Darren Rae built car, as he makes his full debut in the formula. Fraser Clark found form late in 2024, and he’ll be hoping to hit the ground running in 2025 with a good opening meeting. Northern Irelands Mathew Milliken is set to join us on the grid too.

The Stock Rods are racing in the opening round of their APEX Garden Rooms series – the points from this series will be accrued throughout, with tyres going to the top scoring drivers from each grade come the end of the series. Scottish Champion Gary Dean will be with us once more, as he sets about securing qualification for the majors in the year ahead. European Champion, Robbie Armit returns to action having missed the last couple of meetings last season. Armit has been a consistent front runner in the formula since graduating from Ministox, and he will be looking to add some further silverware in the 2025 season. Sean Naismith is arguably one of the quickest drivers in the formula – The 2024 track champion will be looking to provide consistent results once more as he looks to battle it out for the various championships on offer throughout the year. Charlie Hardie is set to enter the formula, balancing things between the 2.0 Hot Rod and Stock Rod, and will be a force to be reckoned with. Dean McGill is another top driver in the formula – McGill generally always finds himself around the podium places, though, has found himself with reliability issues in the past too. Aiden McKinnon is set to join us on track too. There are a couple of changes to the stock rod formula to be aware of, the meeting finals will revert back to starting in graded order, whilst, should there be any yellow flags, drivers will be able to start 2 abreast should they wish to do so, adding a little extra drama into the yellow flag restarts!

The Junior Productions look set to grow in numbers once more, with several new drivers entering the formula – either now, or in the coming weeks. Adam Donnelly joins us on track in the formula, whilst he will also continue to race in the Ninja Kart class. Caden Wotherspoon makes his racing debut, and didn’t look like a novice driver at our practice sessions. There could be a debut for Katie Lee Smart, who is set to move up from the Ninja Kart class too. Lewis Dickson claimed the points championship in 2024, and will be looking to score as much points as he possibly can in the early part of the season, showing off the championships proudly. William Plenderleith has been one of the top performing drivers over the last couple of seasons, challenging for the points championship, and having a few unlucky moments in championship races in the process. Plenderleith will be hoping for a steady 2025 year as he looks to mount a challenge on all fronts. Jack Baird is set to be out on track once more. The youngster on his day, is as quick as anyone, and Jack will be hoping to find consistency in 2025 as he looks to establish himself as one of the top drivers. Lewis and Aiden Duffy are two further drivers that are now classed as some of the more experienced drivers in the formula, and both will be hoping to have a strong 2025 year, with both drivers more than capable of challenging for regular silverware. Nicole Innes and Billie-Summer Glen both showed good pace in practice, with both looking to take away some more trophies in 2025. Both drivers have shown great resilience in their time in the formula, with numerous ups and downs along the way.

The Scrapco Metal Recycling Ninja Karts are the final formula in attendance, and once more, the youngsters look set to have an exciting season with strong numbers, and regular visitors. Rudi Arcari looks set to be the only newcomer to participate this weekend, though, there are several more to come in the coming weeks. Jaxon Cairns, William Brown and Cahan Bradley make the trip over the water to be with us, whilst Riley Stagg, Dolly-Rae Keenan, Johnny Wheeler, Finley Weston and Parker Smith make the trip north from Spedeworth territory to join us on the grid. Rory Wilson, Henry Hunn and Jayden Lee Jeffrey had some epic battles in 2024, with little between any of the trio, with Wilson proving to be the most consistent. Christopher Lattka found himself regularly in the mix of things too, most notably in the latter half of the season, and he too will be one to watch in 2025. Alfie Shevill, Ryan Love, Alfie MacLeod and Blair Innes all made massive strides in 2024. They’ll all be hoping to use 2024 as a launchpad into more success in 2025!

A reminder, we have 50 50 TICKETS AVAILABLE FROM THE MAIN RECEPTION FOR JUST £1 PER STRIP, WITH HALF THE TAKINGS GOING TO THE WINNER.
