Saturday 26th April looks set to be another exciting race event at HRP Lochgelly Raceway, with 16 races scheduled. The track will be on the go from the get go at 5.30pm, with five formula set to entertain.
The U-Pull-It 1300 Stock Cars are in attendance for the final time ahead of their Specialist Roofing British Championship event over the 10th and 11th May, and many of the drivers will see it as an opportunity to get their setups ready, or try to disrupt some of the other competition on track! Kevin Graham took to the formula excellently last time out as he made his debut in the class, and could well be in with a chance of claiming his first win on Saturday. Charlie Henry will be looking to continue in the form that she was in last time out – as she battled at the front end of the pack throughout the night – Charlie isn’t afraid to get stuck in, and will be one to watch on Saturday as she looks to be in the mix for success once more. Further back, Jamie Stewart has been in excellent form this season – however, last time out was a disappointment to the standards he has set himself, and will be looking to be back to his best once more. World Champion Darren Rae, National Points Champion Fraser Clark & Brant West will all be looking to use the bumper to the maximum effect as they hope to outscore the others around them.
The Stock Rods compete in round 2 of the APEX Garden Building Series in what is also their final event ahead of the Spedeworth TV British Championship over the 10th and 11th May here at Lochgelly Raceway. Teri Linden has been arguably one of the top performing drivers of the season so far, as she finds herself topping both the track championship and the APEX Garden Building Series so far, and will be hoping for another fine meeting as she hopes to maintain those positions moving into May. Dean McGill has won more races this season than any other driver having won 4 races so far, including 3 meeting finals. McGill will be looking to add to that tally on Saturday, however, an evenly matched field of cars always makes the Stock Rod formula unpredictable and exciting. European Champion, Robbie Armit faired well in Northern Ireland last weekend, managing to secure a race win for his efforts, and he’ll be hoping to be back to his best form after what has been a difficult start to the 2025 season for the youngster. This week we hope to see both Keiran McKinnon and Mike Courts make their debut’s in the formula.
The 2.0 Hot Rods have produced some very close racing, despite car numbers struggling at times this season. With Allan Gibson returning to the track, it will add an extra dimension of difficulty for the drivers that have been on track most of the season – Allan isn’t no slouch and once he is back in the swing of things, he’ll prove to be stern competition for the others on track. Mark Dews has been with us throughout the season and has had a mix of fortunes – the 178 pilot has struggled handling wise at times, but has also shown that he has the pace and ability to be racing for victories, and should he be on form on Saturday, he will take some beating. Charlie Hardie and Keith Brown are locked in a battle for the National Points with very little between the pair – Hardie leads the way currently, but Brown is still within distance to change that as he looks to keep his hands on the silver for another campaign, whilst Hardie hopes to become one of (if not the) youngest drivers to claim the silver roof in the formula. Jack MacLeod has started the 2025 season excellently, and has taken to the formula like a duck to water – competing with more established drivers on a regular basis, Macleod will be hoping to continue his development in the formula this weekend. Craig Mason has been getting quicker with each passing meeting in his new car too – and may will have the pace to keep those starting alittle further back behind him for long periods in the race.
The Junior Productions have displayed many excellent races over the course of the season, with little between many of the drivers. This has produced close, exciting, and at times hair-raising moments whilst racing. The lower graded drivers have certainly taken some beating – in the early part of the season, Caden Wotherspoon, Candice Smart and Lee Moore all had good success before the first grading period, and since then, the other lower graded drivers have moved to take the plaudits – Billy-Summer Glen, Marley Montgomery, Jayden Barrie etc have all scored well recently, and will all be hoping for a podium place this Saturday.
The Scrapco Metal Recycling Ninja Karts are a bit of a marmite formula – you either love them or hate them – but we certainly love them. They’re the future of the sport, and the talent on display is often incredible, with drivers showing no fear and some excellent race craft. Yes there are incidents, and at times, the kids aren’t the best at taking instructions, but we need to remember, they are kids, and nobody can fault the quality of racing on display. Henry Hunn, Jayden Jeffrey, Alfie Shevill, Ryan Love, Christopher Lattka and Rory Wilson have all been the regulars at the front end of the results and we expect them all to be challenging up there once more on Saturday – however, with some talented lower graded drivers, and drivers with increasing confidence, we can also expect some of these drivers to be in the mix for success on Saturday, especially if there aren’t any race cautions.
The action gets underway at 5.30pm.
