We are back at Lochgelly Raceway for another evening of non-stop action, featuring the 2.0 Hot Rod Scottish Championship AND the Ninja Kart Scottish Championship!!! The Stock Rods, Ministox and ProStocks will all also feature in a fantastic five formula line up!
The 2.0 Hot Rods will see Ryan Mackie try and defend the title he won superbly in 2020, as he finished narrowly ahead of Jock Campbell in last years event!! This year, we will see 2 reverse grid heats that will determine the grid for the main race itself – with the luck of the draw potentially helping determine who will come out on top. Jock Campbell, Jason Secker and Cameron Willacy have been the top performers of late, though with a returning Marc Honeyman and track champion, Kevin Stewart on the grid, it will be a competitive affair. Scott Devine will also be out in action having sat out the last couple of meetings. Devine has won a few races himself this year, and will be hoping that his car is on it come Saturday evening as he bids to win his first Hot Rod championship!
The Ninja Karts will see the Scottish Championship race sponsored by KN Transport, and with over 20 karts booked into race, it looks set to be an exciting, but edge of your seat affair!! Eevie Ford has been in excellent form of late, and will fancy her chances whatever the conditions. Hamish Plenderleith and Kenzie Bell likewise, have been consistent performers, with Hamish currently topping the HRP points chart. Reigning champion, Kenzie Kopacz has struggled for consistency in 2021, but has the raw talent and speed to match those ahead of him in the charts, and Kenzie will be looking to make it 2 in a row on Saturday night!! Aiden Duffy is coming to the end of his Ninja Kart career, and has seen himself move upto red grade recently having shown consistent results, and religiously finishing in the places throughout the 2021 campaign. Stuart Shevill is enjoying his first ‘full’ season in the formula, and his confidence is grown with every lap he get’s on track – Young Shevill will fancy his chances should an opportunity come arising. Jack Connor and Caelan Grant have both been improving throughout the season, and both have shown they have the outright pace to match the majority of drivers on track, and a couple of clean races may well see them in the hunt come the main race on Saturday night. There have been a host of novices enter the formula over the last 18 months, and with many, it will be the first experience in a Scottish Championship race. Regardless of who comes out on top, we hope it will be a good race, and the kids all leave with a smile!!
The Stock Rods are back with us after a few weeks away, and despite a couple of drivers missing, it should be a good night for the formula. With the ‘Big 2’ absent, it will open doors and opportunities for other drivers to step up, and stake their claim at becoming the number 1. Recently crowned Scottish Champion Darren McAlpine will be hoping for better luck than he had at Ipswich a couple of weeks ago, with a return to home turf. Jim Pitcaithly likewise, had a nightmare time at Ipswich, will also be hoping to return to the form he is capable of. Jimmy P has won many races this year, including the Lochgelly Masters, though has had several reliability issues which see’s him a little further back in the points than what it could have been. Brett Sneddon, Gary Dean and David Crichton will join Stewart Paterson amongst the other drivers looking for glory on Saturday night. An opportunity presents itself for the likes of Harvey Sneddon, Robbie Hamilton and John Bremner to claim a win at Lochgelly Raceway as well – the three most recent junior formula graduates all have good pace, and the ability to win!
The Ministox are in action following a short lay off here at Lochgelly Raceway – and with just under 25 cars in action, it promises to be an entertaining evening of racing from the youngsters. ORCi and Scottish Champion, Scott Allardyce will be looking to close the gap at the top of the relevant points charts, as he chases down current HRP points champion, Charlie Hardie. Jake Wilson has been in great form since he returned from suspension earlier in the year, and will no doubt make life tough for the two afore mentioned drivers. Rian Mitchell has established himself as a red grade over the last month or two, and since moving up, has continued to score well wherever he has raced. Rhys Kelly showed that he will be a driver to beat in the formula, having made his debut here at Lochgelly a few weeks back, can the youngster claim his first win at HRP Lochgelly Raceway this weekend? Lewis Burgoyne and Jay Paterson will likely lead the GMP charge, with both drivers historically gone well here at HRP. It is great to see Rachel Kidd back in action following her accident earlier in the year at Birmingham – Kidd returned last week at Racewall and it was like she has never been away – can she carry that form onto Saturday’s racing? Connor St Aubyn is set to make his first appearance at Lochgelly Raceway in the number 5 car.
The ProStocks are the final formula in action. The ProSTocks have been a formula that have provided some highs and lows through their time on Scottish ovals, and this Saturday, we hope it will be another high as the formula on it’s day, is capable of providing some of the best on track racing. The ‘Nudge and Spin’ formula has seen a few drivers guilty of excessive contact over the last year or so, though it is hoped that the drivers will be back out this weekend, as we look to return to some normality for the formula!! Tam Melrose and Darren Rae currently top the points charts, with not a lot between either driver.
The main event will start at 5pm on Saturday, with a whites and yellows race for the Ninja Karts taking place pre-meeting. Spectator gates will open at 2.30pm this week.
