It’s the final meeting in the month of May, and it promises to be a night with lots of memorable on track action. With five formula taking to the track, we see the stars of the future looking to shine and outshine the present day stars.
The National Hot Rods contest the final round of their Scottish Qualifying Series, with plenty to race for yet – Gordon Alexander leads the way in the points charts, but with Derek Connor and James Robertson not too far away, things aren’t quite set in stone. Ian Donaldson isn’t too far away neither, can still make the top 3 places and claim a place in the World Championship. Ethan Doull made a return last weekend, and managed to claim a race win for his efforts – he’ll be looking to repeat that this weekend. Paul Cusack is set to make his first outing of the season as he returns to the formula.
The Superstox are with us for the final time ahead of their European Championship in just a few weeks – taking place over the weekend of the 14th and 15th June. Jordan Aylward and Gary Chisolm both make the trip north to be with us for some track time – Though Chisolm doesn’t really need it as he has been a fairly regular attendee with us in 2025, and has looked quick at every meeting he has attended here at Lochgelly Raceway. Chisolm will be in contention on Saturday for the podium places. Aaron Riddell has been the stand out performer this year though, racing to multiple race wins so far, and an early lead in the track championship. Adam Low and Kenny McKenzie have both had some intriguing battles, with the front bumpers put to good effect at various occasions across the course of the season. Craig Stephen will take some catching too – the 2025 newcomer has found good pace of late, and has seen improvement at each passing meeting. Can he come away with a tyre too, courtesy of RS Motors? National Points Champion Dean Johnston is set to return to action having found a race / life balance a little challenging in the early part of 2025, but will no doubt be keen to hit the ground running.
The Stock Rods race in Round 3 of the APEX Garden Building Series – with prizes up for grabs at the end of the series for the top point scoring driver from each of the grades. Mike Courts will be looking to grow into his car having been thrown in at the deep end so far in his stock rod career, whilst both Keiran McKinnon and Aiden McKinnon will be looking to battle it out near the front. Further back, Lee McGill, Gary Dean, Sean Naismith and Teri Linden have all found themselves good results this season, and will be hoping for more of that come Saturday night. Dean McGill likewise, has been in the mix of things -but at time of writing isn’t currently booked to race.
The Junior Production formula have seen some very close, competitive racing so far this season with a great mix of race winners from across the grades. The points chart is arguably the most competitive it has ever been, and there is very little between the whole pack of drivers. Consistency is key, and those looking to be challenging come the end of the season will need to keep there noses clean and stay out of bother and have the ability to read the race developing in front of them to maximise their opportunities. Lewis and Aiden Duffy dominated proceedings last time out, with the pair sharing the race wins amongst them. Connor st Aubyn found good pace at his first outing, and with some good fortune, he may be one to look out for on Saturday night.
The Scrapco Metal Recycling Ninja Karts are the final formula in action – and the youngsters compete for the final time ahead of their Scrapco Metal Recycling European Championship next month. Johnny Wheeler and Ralph Payne both make the trip north to join our regular drivers. Rory Wilson and Jayden Jeffrey have both found themselves regularly racing close and for the podium places this year, whilst the likes of Ryan Love, Alfie Shevill and Henry Hunn have all provided adequate opposition, and they’re all more than capable of claiming a victory on Saturday night. The youngsters race close, they race hard, and they certainly keep you on the edge of your seat!
