Following on from our excellent season opener last weekend, we are back for more great stock car action on Saturday 8th March, with the action getting underway at 5.30pm.
The ProStocks are set to entertain for the first time this season, and with 20+ drivers currently booked to race, it bodes well for the season ahead for the formula. 2024 seen some superb racing from them, with plenty of on track action, and some great all round racing. Paul Barron was the driver to beat, and he’ll surely have his cards marked this year as the other drivers look to prevent him breaking clear in the early part of the season. World Cup winner, Dougie Kidd will be hoping for another strong season. Dougie Kidd showed that he had the pace to match Barron, and isn’t afraid to get stuck in when required to do so. Grady Ross took the HRP National Points in 2024 and will show off the silver roof for the season ahead. Grady will be looking to hit the ground running as he looks to get a good haul of points at our season opener. Several new drivers to the formula are set to compete – Robert Marshall, Aaryn Marshall, Ewan Bruce and Kai McNulty all hope to be in attendance. The nudge and spin class will certainly entertain throughout the night, and are well worth watching!
The National Hot Rods – the elite of non-contact oval racing – are back with is for the first time this year, as they continue to chase points as they look to qualify for the World Championship in July. A high quality field of drivers are anticipated, with the likes of Gordon Alexander, Ross McWilliam, Ian Donaldson, and Derek Connor looking to chase the wins. Keith Chesher is set to be in attendance likewise, whilst there may be a further few drivers on track too!
The Superstox formula looks set to have a strong 2025 season, with the formula looking the strongest it has done in a few years. Lee Smart, Bryan Forrest, Scott Devine and Danny Whyte all hope to become regulars in the formula, with all set to be in attendance this year. Forrest needs no introduction, a former National Points and Scottish Champion, he makes a return to action in 2025. Danny Whyte made the switch from 1300 Stock Cars towards the end of 2024, and looked to have good pace at pre-season practice. Devine has had his car a couple of years, but hasn’t been able to get out on track as often as he would have hoped for, and is hoping to be a regular attendee this season. Lee Smart hasn’t been on track for a few years – with his focus being on work and his the racing careers of his daughters. The bug hasn’t gone away though, and Smart is set to be with us in the ex Ciaran Adams car this weekend. These drivers, in addition to our core of regulars, will be welcome additions to the field in 2025, and we can’t wait to see how they all get on battling it out with Kenny McKenzie, Adam Low et al. With thanks to RS Motors, a tyre will be up for grabs for the top scoring white or yellow graded driver on the night too!
The Stock Rods are with us for the second successive week, with some fantastic racing witnessed last weekend, we hope the racing can be just as close and exciting on Saturday. Lee McGill took two race wins last week, which will see him start from the blue grade this weekend, whilst Baillie Glencross hopes to make her first outing of the year.
The ORCi Ministox are the final formula in attendance, as they make their season debut. With multiple drivers moving on from the formula over the last year or so, its great to see most of these replaced with new up and coming drivers. Lana Middler begun to find her feet late in 2024 and will be looking to start 2025 off with a good round of results. Jamie Balfour graduated from Ninja Karts, and will be hoping to familiarize himself in the formula, whilst looking to score some points in the process. Bailey Wilson is also a new driver to the formula, having previously raced Ninja Karts several years ago David Philp, Stuart Shevill, Ethan Gemmell will all fancy there chances of success on Saturday, but an array of great drivers will be on track looking to make things difficult. Contact is permitted between the cars, though, it isn’t a full contact formula! An entertaining formula, with a tyre up for grabs on the night courtesy of WUL Enterprises.
