Juniors Take Centre Stage Juniors Take Centre Stage
Saturday 22nd June will see two major titles contested at Lochgelly Raceway, with the stars of the future taking centre stage. The Ninja Karts contest their 2024 British Championship, whilst the ORCi Ministox contest their 2024 APEX Garden Rooms Scottish Championship. The Classic Hot Rods, Stock Rods and 2.0 Hot Rods also feature in a frantic five formula event.

The Ninja Karts will see a new name added to the roll of honour with the reigning champion Max Taylor having already reached the retirement age for the formula and unable to defend. 34 drivers from throughout the UK and Ireland will be with us all looking to become the 2024 British Champion. Lewis Hazlett leads the Northern Irish charge – the newly crowned points champion was a visitor to Lochgelly earlier in the season and looked quick on that occasion too. Jake Barnett heads over the Irish Sea looking for success too – Barnett was quick here at Lochgelly as last years World Championship event, and he’ll be looking to build on that this weekend as he bids to become the Ninja Kart British Champion. From south of the border, Jack Jones leads the way – the newly crowned Spedeworth Points Champion makes his final outing in the Ninja Kart class as he reaches the upper age limit. Jones has been a regular attendee at Lochgelly over the last couple of seasons, and he will be looking to make the track knowledge count as he aims to sail into Ninja Kart retirement with one more title. The Cooper name is familiar around the ovals with the family having raced to success in many forms over the years. The next generation of Cooper’s, George and Thomas, will be hoping to continue that in the years to come. Starting off their racing careers young in the Ninja Karts, it gives them the opportunity to gain confidence at a young age – Both are set to be with us this weekend and we are sure the family will be proud to see them both on the grid and in with a chance of success. An array of top drivers make the trip north to challenge for the honours. The home contingent of drivers will be hoping to make home advantage count. Rory Wilson has been in quite remarkable form this season, which has seen him claim the 2023/24 HRP National Points Championship at the last outing. Rory has won multiple races this season already, and isn’t afraid to put his kart into a gap or go around the outside of any given driver. In only his first full season in the formula, he looks like a dead cert for championship success – either this weekend, or in the future. Tommy Melrose is at the other end of the spectrum in his Ninja Kart career as he reaches retirement age in the coming months. Melrose has been in great form too this season, pushing Wilson all the way at times and has too won his fair share of races along the way. Louie Hendry, Katie Lee Smart, Rayah Burns and Jayden Lee Jeffrey will all be looking for the win this weekend, whilst the likes of Sophia Allan and Blair Innes will be hoping for some great results along the way. One thing we can be sure of though, is that the racing will be hard fought and that whoever comes away as British Champion will be a deserving champion!

The APEX Garden Buildings Ministox Scottish Championship also features, and with the ORCi Ministox a formula that regularly come away with the plaudits, we can expect a hard fought, action packed night of action from the Ministox. Charlie Hardie is one of several drivers that are nearing retirement age in the formula, and will be looking to go out with a bang. Hardie is no stranger to success having won multiple titles over the years, and currently holds the English, Irish, British and HRP National Points championships – can he end his Ministox career as Scottish Champion too? Hamish Plenderleith started the 2024 season off slowly, missing out in the first few meetings of the season, before hitting the ground running as he got his campaign underway. Plenderleith has looked quick wherever he has raced, and will be a front runner on Saturday night having already claimed the HRP Marshals Shield this year. Rhys Kelly is the most northernly based driver set to be with us on Saturday, and he himself has shown great consistency this season – The 339 car has taken several race wins along the way, charging from the back on each occasion. A talented driver and one that will certainly go far in years to come. Rhys will fancy his chances this weekend, and will certainly start as one of the event favourites. David Philp Jnr2 currently leads the HRP National Points and has shown excellent speed up and down the country this year. Philp isn’t afraid to get stuck in when it matters too, and will use the front bumper to maximum effect as and when required. Dougie Kidd Jnr, Cole Ford, Kerr Paterson and Shaun Boyle will all be hoping to have some steady qualifying heats as they look to be in contention for the win in the Scottish Championship too!

The Classic Hot Rods are with us once more, and we welcome a couple of southern drivers who make the trip north to join us. 8 James Owen and 100 Alfie Johnson are the two visiting drivers joining us – making there 2nd trip north of the border this month. Kenny Purdie is a driver that gives it is all and is always out to win. An old school driver with a style of racing that is to be adored. Watch on as he throws his Escort around the track with the tail kicking out on a regular basis. Adam Low, Zak Murdoch and Trevor Harris are all set to be with us, whilst Cameron Willacy hopes to make his debut in the class.

The 2.0 Hot Rods are with us and welcome visiting driver Robbie Barnett. The home drivers will be looking to battle it out for race wins throughout the night, with a very evenly matched pack of drivers.

The Stock Rods are the final formula in action. The front wheel driver rod class has provided some excellent racing this season already, and will be hoping to showcase some great racing this weekend.

The drivers sign in office will open at 1.30pm, whilst practice will get underway at 2.20pm. The sign in office will close 30minutes before the first race.

50 50 TICKETS ARE AVAILABLE FROM THE MAIN RECEPTION FOR JUST £1 PER STRIP, WITH HALF THE TAKINGS GOING TO THE WINNER.

Drivers are reminded that they are responsible for leaving a tidy pit area, utilizing the bins provided, or taking rubbish away with them. Any teams found to be leaving their pit area untidy, will be fined and possibly banned from attending race meetings.

The spectator gates will open at 2.15pm, with trackside parking only available on a first come first served basis. High sided vehicles are requested to park on the upper level, and the far end of the middle level, so not to obstruct views of those behind them.
