We’re back in action on Saturday 1st November with arguably one of our biggest events of the season – the Big Van Banger Scottish Championship. This event will also feature the CC Rod Scottish Championship, Junior Productions, ProStocks and 2.0 Hot Rods.
We’d like to extend our thanks to Forth Bakers in Kirkcaldy for their support of our Van Banger Scottish Championship. The Van Bangers are the headline attraction with over 20 vans set to participate in the event as they look to secure the Scottish Championship – Paul Barron will be looking to claim the title for the third time, but he’ll have some stern competition with the likes of Zak Murdoch, Scott Allardyce and Sean McConnachie all chasing the same goal.. or looking to stop him in his tracks. Three races are scheduled for the vans, plus and end of night demolition derby!
The CC Rods are in attendance for the final time this season as they race for their Scottish Championship. Alec Cunningham is the defending champion, but at the time of writing, is not currently booked to race. There has been some excellent racing from the CC Rod formula over the course of the season with a multitude of drivers being extremely competitive – Lee Scott, Kevin Donaldson, Gregor Whyte, Robert Conway, Ian Donaldson and Baillie Glencross to name just a few. Hollie Ritchie found her feet in the class last time out, and will be looking for a good draw this weekend as she hopes to find herself in contention. Graham Pow likewise, he has shown good pace throughout the season, though has been hampered by reliability issues at times. Brooke McMullan has improved throughout the course of the season and has some really good pace. It’s not just the Scottish Championship though, the points championship still isn’t finalised and will go right to the wire with Lee Scott and Robert Conway both in contention.
The 2.0 Hot Rods are with us for the second weekend in succession, and after providing some close competitive racing last weekend, we are hopeful that the formula will once more provide close racing between the drivers. Charlie Hardie has been a dominant force throughout the season, but with Allan Gibson, Mark Dews and Ryan Mackie all showing they have the pace to compete, it isn’t always plain sailing for the National Points Champion.
The Junior Productions once more see a healthy field of drivers booked to participate, and are in attendance for the final time this season. Connie Anderson will be looking to sow up the points championship, and become the first female to do so in the Junior Production class. The Juniors have the ability to display superb racing, and are one of the must watch formula here at Lochgelly Raceway with a wide range of experience levels allowing for some very exciting racing.
The ProStocks complete the line up, and Ryan Martin will be looking to wrap up the track points championship. The ProStock formula has provided ample great racing throughout the course of the year, with steady car numbers and exciting racing. The formula has been rewarded with a charity mechanics race at the end of the night this weekend, as they close out their season.
