This Saturday at Lochgelly Raceway, Saturday 25th May, we see four formula take to the track as they look to put on another great display of stock car action.
The National Micro Bangers make their first appearance of the season, with a healthy prize fund, and a chance to claim a spot in the Fife Medical Group Micro banger World Cup up for grabs, there should be plenty of on track action. As well as several Scottish based drivers, we see a few English make the trip to be with us as well. Keiran Tweed has put in some amount of miles already this year and he is set to join us once more this weekend. Jamie Sangster makes the trip south to join us from his northerly base. Joss Procter, Jake Procter and Dylan Sykes all also make the trip over the border. Full contact racing with a demolition derby to round off the evening, before the points are calculated and the driver claims a seeded place in the Micro Banger World Cup. Drivers will score points for this event as follows:
- 10 points for booking in and participating at the meeting
- 5 points for turning up without booking in
- 10-1 for each of the 3 races
- 5 points for the best presented car
- 5 points for actively participating in the demolition derby
- 15 points for winning the demolition derby
- 5 points for event entertainer
The CC Rods are with us for the second week in succession. The formula put in a good display of action last weekend with some great close racing amongst the drivers. Kevin Hutchison makes a return having missed out last weekend due to a clashing family event. The 171 pilot will be looking to make up ground as swiftly as possible and will be hoping for a clean night of racing where he can rack up some good points. Baillie Glencross made her first appearance in the formula last weekend, but struggled with reliability issues. She’ll be hoping that her race team have overcame such issues this weekend as she looks to get off the mark and get some points on the board. Natalie Mason looks to have got to grips with her Fiesta having took her first race win last weekend – however, it did appear that the car struggled for grip later on in the meeting last weekend. She will be hoping for another good performance this weekend – can she make it 2 wins in 2 meetings? Ian Christie has been the most consistent driver of the season so far, steadily picking up points, wins and podium finishes throughout each event so far. The 170 pilot will be fancying his chances for some more silverware this weekend. John Gorman, Alun Gregory and Brian Allen will all be looking to get a few more points on the board with podium finishes the aim for all three.
The Stock Rods are with us for the first time in several weeks, with drivers continuing to race hard as they look to stake a claim in the championship events in the 2nd half of the season. Siobhan Martin hasn’t been as dominant this season, but she continues to lead the way in the National Points chart, showing consistency throughout the year, and putting herself in contention come each meeting final with good results in qualifying heats. Steven Adair is hoping to be with us as he continues his transition from the CC Rod class to the Stock Rods. Adair will be making the trip from the north of England to race the stock rod class here at Lochgelly Raceway. Kyle Hutchison, Raymond Brown and the likes are all chapping on the door in the pursuit of qualification, and the midfield pack of drivers are very evenly matched and it could go down to the wire on several fronts throughout the year. All drivers on track will be counting up each and every point and won’t be settling for finishing behind anyone, just incase that is the difference between qualification and not. Such a competitive field of cars always results in superb close racing from the formula, with the formula being one of the most exciting to watch here at Lochgelly. There is no predictability, and almost any of the drivers on track are capable of taking a win at any given meeting.
The youngsters in the Ninja Karts are with us for the first of 2 successive weekends. Mathew McIntyre participates in the formula for the final time having been a stalwart in the class over the last few years, rarely missing an event. Mathew will be looking to end his Ninja Kart career on a high with some good results. At the other end of the spectrum, Alix Martin is set to make her first appearance in the formula subject to completing the necessary requirements. There is visiting interest in the shape of Riley Stagg, Cahan Bradley and Harley Flegg. Louie Hendry, Tommy Melrose and Rory Wilson have been the consistent trio of drivers scoring well at each event so far this year, with Henry Hunn, Katie Lee Smart and Jayden Jeffrey all also regularly in the mix. Sophia Allan and Rayah Burns both have the speed to compete at the front end of the grid, and both will be looking for consistency and regular race finishes as they look to show some of the boys the way in the coming weeks and months. The Ninja Kart formula regularly provides some hair-raising moments with the youngsters putting in some excellent display of racing, whilst bouncing around the raceway!
