Saturday 10th September will see a fast paced night of racing at Lochgelly Raceway.
The Superstox will contest the Mick Taylor sponsored Lochgelly Masters for the second time, whilst the CC Rods, Junior Productions and Ministox return to action.
Bryan Forrest won the Lochgelly Masters in 2021, and will be back with us as he looks to retain the title for the second successive year. Bryan and Dean Johnston had a fantastic stock car race last time out, with some big hits on each other, drawing huge praise from those in attendance. Aaron Riddell and Adam Low have both also been in good form this year, with neither driver afraid to get stuck in with use of the front bumper. Ciaran Adams has had his best few months in the formula since coming into the class a few years ago, and has scored will at all recent meetings and will be looking to continue such a streak this weekend. Mark Brady and Kenny McKenzie likewise have also seen a few podium positions of late and the formula looks to be providing some great competitive racing of late, with some great on track battles as well. A couple of tyres on behalf of Hoosier will go the way of the final winner this weekend as well, as an added incentive to the drivers.
The CC Rods have been in great form in 2022 – with 20+ cars taking to the track on a regular basis, and this weekend is no different. Another great field of cars will be looking to battle it out, fine tune their setups and get as much points on the board as they possible can as they approach their 2022 Scottish Championship event. Kyle Hutchison and Raymond Brown have been the stand out performers this year, but any number of drivers are capable of claiming a win in the formula given the competitive nature of the formula. Lee Scott, Kevin Hutchison have both been mainstay’s in the red grade throughout the season, and have competed admirably from the back to maintain that position. Mirran Adams has held her own this year and will be looking for another steady meeting with more points on the board this weekend. Dean McGill, Ryan Love and James Robertson have all been relative new-comers to the formula of late, but have all shown the calibre and pace to come away with good results. The non-contact class is often edge of your seat stuff, but certainly leave you excited for the next race with some great battles seen on track.
The Ministox are back with us, for what feels like an eternity. The youngsters have had a busy season, with racing at the three Scottish tracks on a regular basis, and credit must go to the teams in ensuring the kids turn up and are able to race at the majority of events. The youngsters always have around 20 cars on track, and aren’t afraid to get stuck in with some pushing and spinning to mix things up. The Lochgelly Track Points looks to be a three way battle this year, with Robbie Armit currently leading Jake Wilson and Charlie Hardie, though there is a lot of racing to be done – it is still anyone’s title. Demi Ritchie and Rian Mitchell have both had great seasons, with a lot of success, though Mitchell has seen his recent efforts hampered by some un-reliability issues which the team will be hoping to have sorted out this weekend. Sam Cavanagh has flown under the radar for the most part, but has been steadily plucking away and scoring points and good race results for his efforts.
The Junior Productions have arguably been one of the most improved formula in 2022, with driver numbers increasing on a regular basis – with now over 20 regular drivers taking to the track at each passing meeting. With more cars on track, that has often resulted in a few more incidents, but credit to the drivers – they have all upped their games and have been able to avoid as many incidents as some may have thought there would have been. Being a non-contact formula, there are sometimes some hairy moments as drivers battle it out for a piece of track, without pushing their way through. The drivers coming from the back of the grid have regularly had to settle for the lower podium positions, such has been the calibre of driver starting in front of them. Connor St Aubyn, Baillie Glencross and Dale Sutherland all put in excellent showings last time out, and will be hoping for much the same this weekend as they look to keep the more established drivers at bay behind them.
