It’s the final Friday night event of the 2024 season, and it is an all contact formula event. The racing gets underway at 7pm.
The U-Pull-It 1300 Stock Cars are with us as they race in their annual Mr Gunn event. There is added incentive on this event with additional prize fund contributions from the Gunn family, Ian and Carol Goodall, Mirror Mirror, Taxi Centre and Ringtone Racepaints. The formula have provided a season full of scintillating stock car action and with 25 cars booked to race, it is set to be another lively night of action. Jamie Stewart has had a memorable season – picking up a lot of wins, a few titles and also in the thick of the action! World Champion Darren Rae will be with us on Friday before heading south as he looks to add the World of Shale to his accolades. National Points Champion Fraser Clark will be looking to end the year on a high in the last couple of meetings. It has been a challenging few months for the 668 pilot, but as with any top driver, we have no doubt that it will come good again for the silver roofed driver. Sam Cavanagh has been one of the star performers of the season – the youngster has found his feet superbly in the 1300 class and has been a great addition to the formula. A fast but hard race, Sam is never far away of the action and has accumulated an excellent points haul in his first full season in the formula. Danny Whyte took victory in the Inter-Nations Cup a couple of months ago, but hasn’t had too many great results since then – Whyte would love nothing more than to get a win on Friday night in an event that means so much to a lot of the drivers. We welcome southern visitors, Jeff Larke and Reece Legrice with us.
The ProStocks have had an excellent campaign here at Lochgelly Raceway, with car numbers averaging just under 20 cars per meeting. With the racing taking place on a Friday night for the first time in a few years for the formula, it will be a fast paced night of action with quick turnaround times. It is the final time the formula is in action in 2024, and it could be entertaining. Paul Barron may have his cards marked with the points leader having crossed paths with a few over the course of the season. Dougie Kidd won the World Cup for the second successive year and will be hoping to continue the good form into the final event of the year. The nudge and spin class is never short of on track entertainment, and we are excited to see the formula perform this Friday night.
The youngsters in the ORCi Ministox are the final formula in attendance – the drivers have had a busy season, with some drivers having done 40+ meetings across the tracks this year!! The on track racing has been excellent, with some very close racing and a mix of action packed drama! Ollie Sime has performed well here at Lochgelly over the course of the season, coming away with a few good results for his efforts. David Philp has secured the HRP National Points, but there is still a battle on-going in the quest for the track championship, with Rhys Kelly currently leading the way from Philp. Shaun Boyle has shown great pace throughout the season, but has often found himself caught up with a few DNF’s along the way. Lana Middler and Halle Wishart have been welcome additions to the formula this year, with both drivers finding their feet and showing good progress in the latter part of the season.
