Saturday 14th September 2024 will see the CC Rods take centre stage as they race for their 2024 Scottish Championship. The U Pull It 1300 Stock Cars, National Micro Bangers and 2.0 Hot Rods are all also in action.
The racing gets underway at 6pm – please ensure you’re arrival at the complex prior to this time to avoid missing any of the action!
The CC Rods have had a steady season with lots of great racing along the way. There has been a few moments of frustration throughout the season with the budget formula with drivers of relative inexperience having a few on track issues – however, that is part and parcel of the sport and the formula. The CC Rod formula is an entry level formula and as a result, there are often some thrills and spills along the way. There is on the other hand, a great deal of talent within the formula, with many of the drivers more than capable of racing wheel to wheel and bumper to bumper, giving room and respect to those around them. The formula is exciting, dramatic and on any given meeting, can throw out some surprises! The star graded drivers will likely start at the pre-race favourites – Alec Cunningham, Ian Christie, Lee Scott and Gregor Whyte for example. However, there is an array of drivers that are consistently improving, churning out good results and are ones to be reckoned with. Baillie Glencross and Brooke McMullan both recently out of the Junior Production class aren’t inexperienced pilots, and no how to drive around Lochgelly Raceway and will both be fancying their chances. Brian Allen hasn’t raced as often as he would have liked this year, but, he too, is another driver that on his day, is capable of racing and beating most others. Craig Mason, Alun Gregory, Garry Roberts and Graham Pow have all came away with a few good results in recent events and will all be in the mix. Natalie Mason and John Gorman, if they can stay out of trouble, will also fancy their chances of a podium place. A few drivers will be starting from the back as they haven’t done enough meetings this year to form part of the main qualifying grids – they will all be hoping to score well and give themselves a chance!
The U Pull It 1300 Stock Cars have been one of the top formula over the last couple of years here at HRP Lochgelly Raceway, providing some breathtaking action and having you not knowing where to look. The hatchback class are heavily armoured, and aren’t afraid to get stuck in as the drivers aim to use force, combined with skill, to make their way up the pack, or defend their positions. Fraser Clark, Danny Whyte and Jamie Stewart can all expect to be front running drivers this weekend, though will all have to use their experience wisely as they aim to come through a grid of 20+ cars once more.
The National Micro Bangers compete in their final wildcard event of the season as they look to claim a place in the 2024 Micro Banger World Cup here in October. The top point scorer on the night will claim the wildcard place, with points up for grabs during the races, as well as for the best entertainer throughout the night, and for the driver with the best presented car. Any driver actively participating in the DD will also score points, whilst the DD winner will score 15 extra points. Drivers can continue to book in for this event through our website or via WhatsApp.
The 2.0 Hot Rods are the final formula in attendance, and with their Scottish Championship fast approaching, the drivers will be hoping to optimize their setups ahead of this event.
