Saturday 21st September 2024 at Lochgelly Raceway!
The Super 2s formula make the trip north for the first time ever and are set to race for their first ever Scottish Championship! Although, we don’t know too much about the formula, what we have seen, is that the formula can produce exciting, close and competitive racing, with thrills and spills along the way. The cars are all identical with only the driver and race setups differing, meaning, that the competitive edge comes directly from the drivers and the race teams. British Champion, Matthew Smith, Midlands Champion, Billy Fear, National Champion Stewart Adams and Southern Champion, Jordan Salmon are all set to be in attendance – will one of these drivers add the Scottish Championship to their list of accomplishments, or will we see one of the other many drivers claim success? It is a new track for all competitors and nobody will have any more track experience than another. It certainly promises to be an exciting affair for the formula, and one that we hope we can see once more next year all going well this weekend!
The Rookie Bangers make their final outing of the 2024 season. We’ve seen many great races from the formula, and many of the drivers are pushing on to become the 2024 HRP points champion, whilst looking to secure a space in the Spedeworth Rookie Banger World Final. Previous years we’ve seen 3 drivers from HRP represented at the World Final, and there is many drivers chasing those places. Gavin Taylor, Dan Croskell and Keiran Tweed occupy the top 3 places at the moment, though Danny McMullan, Dylan Ward, and Ryan Martin are all within striking distance to challenge for these top 3 places. As the final event of the campaign for the formula, as in previous years, there will be a DD at the end of the meeting, with all drivers actively participating in the DD scoring 5 bonus points, with the DD winner scoring 10 bonus points! There could be quite a bit of tactical racing, with a few looking to outscore others to make up or maintain places.. It promises to be an exciting finale!
The ORCi Ministox join us for what is the only time in September, and the first time since the last weekend in August. The youngsters never fail to disappoint with some brilliant racing. Recently, we’ve seen a number of the less experienced drivers make good progress in the formula, as they begin to build confidence and challenge for the podium places. There has been an exodus of drivers this year with several reaching the upper age limit during the course of the season. Rhys Kelly and David Philp have been the two stand out drivers of late with both scoring well and consistently from the rear of the grid. Cole Ford looks to have found good pace after a stuttering start to the season, whilst the likes of Stuart Shevill, Shaun Boyle, Dougie Kidd and Nicole Allardyce continue to churn out impressive displays.
The Stock Rods are back with us once more. The non-contact class has delivered some brilliant racing this season with very little between much of the drivers. Gary Dean and Robbie Armit both look to be the ones challenging for silverware, with Armit already having claimed the European Championship. David Crichton has had a good season and will be looking to challenge on Saturday night. Jack MacLeod, Koddi Wright and Teri Linden are always a force to be reckoned with, with all three of them on their day, as quick as any other driver on track. Sean Naismith is another driver that appears to have the bit between his teeth as he steadily produces consistent performances. Kyle Hutchison is hoping to be with us following some damage last time out, and he’ll be hoping to keep his campaign on track.
The Junior Productions are the final formula in attendance, and they’ll be racing for a tyre courtesy of WMH Developments. A couple of new drivers are expected to make their debut in the class – Bobby Whyte having moved on from Ninja Karts and Marley Montgomery who is considering a full time switch from the Junior Banger formula. Last time out for the Junior Production class seen Billie-Summer Glen take 2 race wins and Dale Sutherland also claim victory. There were strong performances from Nicole Innes, Leeland Dearn and Jayden Barrie. Scottish Champion Lewis Dickson leads the charge from the rear of the grid, with Liam Loggie, Connie Anderson and the Duffy duo set to provide some stern opposition.
