British Championship on the Line
We recommence the second half of the season with the Junior Production’s taking centre stage as they race for their 2023 British Championship. Jack Morrow won the title in 2022 in Northern Ireland, but has since moved on from the formula meaning we will see a new champion decided this weekend! KN Transport are our event sponsors, kindly contributing the trophies for the event.

Over 30 drivers are booked to contest the British Championship, with the top drivers from Scotland and Northern Ireland all represented. The Scottish scene has been very competitive this year, with lots of different race winners and front runners. A number of the novice drivers have begun to step up, and be a forced to be reckoned with. Jase Walle and Koddi Wright will be the first names on most people’s lips when it comes to the Scottish based challengers given that the pair have been at the forefront of things when it comes to racing for silverware over the last few years. The likes of Kaitlyn Smart, Maia Thompson, Hollie Ritchie and Baillie Glencross will all lead the Scottish female charge, with each of them more than capable of taking glory. James Slater will be looking to go out the formula on a high, as he reached retirement age in just a few weeks time. The 687 pilot hasn’t had much luck of late, but will be hoping it all comes good for him this weekend! Callahan Bremner, William Plenderleith and Connor St Aubyn have all had their fair share of good races this year already, and will all be looking to stay out of trouble in an effort to put their car as high up the grid as possible. Aiden McKinnon, Liam Loggie, Aiden Duffy and Lewis Dickson likewise have all scored well enough this year to be considered front runners and title challengers. On the Ulster front, a good amount of drivers are making the trip over to be with us, and many are familiar with Lochgelly Raceway. Leyton Hughes has made the step up from Ninja Karts in recent years, and will be one of the front runners this weekend. Callum Doak impressed on his visit to us at the end of the 2022 season, and he’ll be hoping for another good weekend of racing. Lexi Crooks joined us a couple of months ago, and again, was in good form, picking up a win at that outing. A non-contact formula by name, the drivers will have to have patience when it comes to challenging for positions, as none of them will want penalized for infringements, and they’ll all be looking to score as many points as possible from their qualifying heats – a DNF or a DQ will almost certainly put them out of the equation for success in the British Championship!!

The 1300 Stock Cars have been in great form this year, with almost 50 drivers registered in the formula already this season. Former Ministox driver, Sam Cavanagh makes the step up into the 1300 Stock Cars, and is set to make his debut this weekend. Terry Curran is another driver that is set to make his first appearance in the formula. Danny Whyte has shown great speed at times this year, but has been plagued by inconsistent results. Kyle Hegg has won almost all there is to win in the formula, but has had a below average 2023 to his standards. A combination of bad luck, race damage, and engine problems has hampered his season to date – but you can never discount the National Points Champion from being up there challenging. Never afraid to put the bumper in, he’ll put on a show of excellent racing when required to do so. Alike Kyle, the reigning Scottish Champion Blair Robertson has struggled for form this year, and will be desperate to get to the bottom of the issues before he aims to defend the Scottish Championship on the 3rd September. One driver that isn’t struggling at the moment, is Fraser Clark – Fraser has had an excellent few months, totting up the points and pushing himself to the top of the track championship as a result. Darren Rae, Brant West and David Farrell have all been in the mix of the action and challenging throughout the season. Michael Stewart has arguably been the most improved driver of the season so far, taking a good haul of points away on a regular basis throughout the last couple of months.

The CC Rods are with us, and will be looking to put in another impressive showing of racing. The non-contact class has provided some great racing, with lots of door to door action being witnessed, and generally quite clean racing. There is no single driver that has stood out any more than another this year, and that is a testament to the formula, the competition is fantastic, and it makes it near on impossible to predict race results!

The 2.0 Bangers are with us, having replaced the Van Bangers. The 2.0s are a late addition to the event, and as such, booking lists will be added later in the week, as drivers try and muster cars together to be with us.

The event gets underway at 5pm, with spectator gates opening at 2.30pm.
